Double Ouch:mad:

Just think about a part time worker who is only allowed 4 hours per shift. Particularly those who live in an area with little or no public transportation.

Would put a serious damper on my incentive to show up for work.

I guess if you had a positive frame of mind you could view gas prices as a challenge to overcome.

Bicycle anyone ?

jimmy
And why not? good exercise and spring is here....for the cost of a tank of fuel you can get a bike at Walmart....even if you just bike it twice a week you can bring the costs down to a good level....people just have to be more flexible, stop whining and GIT-ER-DONE...

But with Chicago's crumbling infrastructure and litter, you'll be buying tires and/or rims every week. And most of the time would be spent walking that bike.

Yeah thats what I thought about after, I finished whining about high gas prices

Then I thought about people all over the world, who face bigger challenges than high gas prices, in trying to make a living.

Double OUCH.

I think you are a bit confused by my comment.
No, it is NOT my problem, that people in other lands have higher costs for fuel and problems making a living.

My problem is how to afford fuel for MY truck, and as you say, being the great American that I am, I will rise to the occasion and find a way.:D

This kind of related to gas prices ...

How many CV's get loaded late and then RUSH to make delivery time....?

Over my years I bump into drivers.....I can't talk, gotta hurry, loaded late, HAVE to make up the time and off they go burning rubber.....or

caught in a wreck and behind time gotta rush...

My point is..if your pick up time was 4pm and you don't get out of there till 4:30....the load contract has been broken...the times and commitment are worthless.....
to speed just cuts into your fuel economy and cuts into the profit on that load....ALWAYS get a time adjustment..always....if dispatch won't give it..take it...
because some times dispatch will squeeze the time for a customer that really needs it....but that is between dispatch and the customer....

I've had dispatch call and say customer called..how fast you going? I'd answer 50 mph...why? *LOL*

But "they" got us where they want us. They know we need it. I am sure I am not the only one to sigh, roll my eyes and shrug when I tear that receipt off the pump.

My theory of conspiracy: they will raise it until people stop traveling for leisure...then it will drop slowly until folks start venturing out again. When that happens, they will raise it slowly, surpassing what it is now, until people stop unnecessary consumption.

Then the cycle repeats....

LOL, then there is that!!

And you know i was thinkin, I wonder when the libs are going to start telling everyone that they "deserve" cheap gas because as it is going, only the "rich" can afford it and thats not right...the libs and the dems just might come up with a "Gasoline Welfare" program...After all, we can't not "help" those in need...

And while the price of gas is going up, do you realize the gov (city, county, state and Fed make more on taxes from gas then the oil companies make in profit.....maybe the gov should stop collecting taxes on gas when it hits a certain pre-determined price...

Oh and you know that some states are putting a yearly "special use TAX" on electric cars because they aren't buying as much gas, and they are not collecting as much tax.....:D

Yes, we are to be "grateful" when it goes back below 3.80...this just in via Jeffman: gas that was down to 3.84 this morning in the Saginaw, MI area is now at 4.14. Flying J is at 4.13. It's still 3.96 in the greater Flint area, but suspect by evening rush this will change.

Yep, staying home ALL week, we are.

Actually Chicago isnt as bad as you all make. It is like any other big city in America ,There are high crime area"s that one shouldnt wonder off to. Me I have more concerns about Milwaukee Wi. seeing how per capita they are having more murders than Chicago and many other large cities. Due to the price of fuel everything is rising in price.Go to the grocery store and a cucumber that was 50 cents a month ago is now $1.75. Green Peppers in our market were $2.25 forget buying red or yellow pepper's those were an arm and leg. Romaine lettuce was $2.85 for 3 of them is now 5.85 The list goes on. Many part's of this country depend on tourism, I guess there income will decrease this year. Yes it's American's getting hurt by greed and politian's in Washington with no back bone.
