With a van any gps unit can work since you don't have to worry about height restrictions. For a van I'd compare units somewhere that is set up so you can see actual screen images and choose the one that looks best and is easiest to read for you. Some have too small fonts for my old eyes. The larger the screen the better. Adjustable backlighting is very desirable. You might check with other drivers when you are at a t/s to see what they use and how they like it. You can also read user reviews on circuitcity.com to get an idea on how they perform in actual use.
