Is there any fleet owners on here that buy fuel contracts?

I guess you can buy 42,000 gallon contracts from pilot and save some

anyone doing this now with pilot or anyother truckstop?

the problem I see with locking in todays price for the 42,000 gallons is I dont like todays price and hope someone comes up with a solution that will give us poor truckers cheaper fuel.

when farmers cant farm the goverment gives them money.
what happens to the farmers and everyone when truckers cant truck.

We get a better deal by using T/A and buying on the wholesale plus 4.5 cents program through Panther. You have to check the wholesale price at each location to find the best one. I paid $2.697 in Jessup when the pump price was $2.969 and in Lafayette, LA. I saved over a dime a gallon off the pump price. The Baytown, TX location was about 2.5 cents a gallon higher and the state fuel tax rate is the same in LA and TX so it was better to buy in LA. If a guy had several trucks and no system like Panther that might be a good way to do it.

Five years ago, the typical fuel consumer would have thought that buying a fuel contract at $1.00 would have been foolhardy; five years from now, a $3.00 contract bought today would have been a great investment.

However necessity is the mother of inventions. Right now some kid is figuring out a way to run your truck on the energy stored in a lump of coal. Perhaps a small nuc reactor will be the power plant of the future.
Wind sails might work, beaming up from one location to another is a possibility. Levitation will elimate traffic tieups such as I experienced today due to some guy on a motorcycle doing about 130, who ran into a rv doing about 60.
