Not a crap area, a crap run. Scenario, you took a killer load to West Podunk. You've waited about 30 hours and nothing. You've been called by your carrier. Your options at this point are to deadhead 537 miles to Somewhereville paying for it yourself, a known good area and where you want to be. Your company offers you a move to Somewhereville, paying a quarter a mile. Your company also offers a load to Elsewhereville, 50 miles from Somewhereville, paying 60 cents a mile which is a crap rate.

It costs you 30 cents a mile to operate your vehicle. You can spend $160 out of your pocket to go on your own. You can accept the empty move and pay $27 out of your pocket to get to the same place. You can accept the crap load that pays $320 leaving $160 in your pocket once the job is done and you are in Somewhereville.
