Ron Paul 2012: Who should be Ron Paul’s running mate?

By tmartin • November 5, 2009

Ron Paul hasn’t announced a decision yet whether he is going to run for President in 2012. If he runs, who should he choose as his running mate?

You can select up to 5 answers below. (The available options are displayed in random order.)

If Ron Paul runs for President in 2012, who should be his running mate?
Jesse Ventura
Pat Buchanan
Chuck Baldwin
John McCain
Mitt Romney
Chuck Hagel
Sarah Palin
Glenn Beck
Lew Rockwell
Cynthia McKinney
Michele Bachmann
Gary Johnson
Michael Bloomberg
Alex Jones
Peter Schiff
Dennis Kucinich
Lou Dobbs
Jim DeMint
Rand Paul
Wayne Allyn Root
Mike Huckabee
Michael Badnarik
Adam Kokesh
Andrew Napolitano
Mark Sanford
Alan Grayson
Other (specify below)
Mel Watt

Missing a few names like:

Chuck Norris
The Motor City Madman Ted Nugent
Andrew Napolitano

That being said, I really don't see Ron being a viable candiate even as a 3rd party conservative...

Are there two Andrew Napolitanos?

I think in order for Paul to succeed, it can't be someone who has been in the spot light as a politician, talk show host, commentator or actually anything like that but can hold their own against all odds, taking the punishment that Palin took in the last election. If they can take that level of punishment, then they may succeed as a team.

A few names on the list stick out;

Palin - nope, she should run the republican party at this point.

Beck - nope, I am seeing a dilution of his values with the fight everything that has to do with ACORN bit.

Norris - difference in opinions between Paul and Norris, Norris is a support of the fair tax where Paul doesn't endorse any tax.

Nugent - sorry, he should have run for governor of Michigan first but moved to Texas and abandon Michigan.

I think there isn't really anyone on the list that is worthy, no names I can offer at this time but if Paul is serious for a second run, he has to stop having an attitude towards some of the libertarian talk show hosts he snubbed last election.

NONE of that bunch. NO Dumb-O-Crats and NO ReBumLiCans. Neither of those two parties can ever be trusted again. Dump them all and put in someone who is NOT a career politition. All career polititions suck and they are liars by trade. Flush them all down the toiliet.

sadly Ron Paul wouldn't gave a chance as he isn't willing to give the lines of B.S. that it takes to win. he just tells it like it is and people don't want to hear the cold hard truth, they would rather be lemmings and be led down the path of destruction none the wiser

Ron Paul has NO idea about the military or how to run it. Since that is one of his most IMPORTANT duties, Commander in Chief, as President he is not qualified for that position. He should maybe be surgen general, OR, take on tort reform and a few of they other problems with health care. He has NO business in charge of our military.

I think I'll run. I saw a nice big stick available so I've got what is needed.

I could vote for ron Paul except for his stance on the use of our military....he could possibly be worthless in that area....he is really weak on the use of military force....so me being the war monger that some say i am, i couldn't vote for him...thats a shame because the rest of his stance ( a constitutionalist ) i could get behind....but his military stance just doesn't work for me....

He is ALMOST as un-qualified to run our military as Osama Obama is. The ONLY difference is he does not HATE the United States like Obama does. Other than that, he is useless.

Hey now wait a minute, see I think he would actually do well with the military, he would simply tell people in Europe and Asia, you know the ones who constantly bashing us, that we are leaving and they will have to fend for themselves.

Ask yourself what purpose other than logistics are we sitting in Europe for?

Why are we dumping billions into NATO when its purpose was not to protect our country from an attack from the Soviets but to protect Europe from the Soviets. Today I think is the 20th anniversary of the tearing down of the wall, and it will be soon 20 years since the Soviet Union kind of went away, so why are we in Nato, someone tell me?

Then there is Korea, maybe modifying the treaty with Japan to allow them an offensive military may help the situation and we can pull out of south korea and Japan, ending what the natives call an Occupation.

Why are we in Africa?

Let the UN do something ... oh that's right under Ron Paul's administration he would not be sending money to the UN, or that's what I understand. Imagine that, defunding the UN and maybe taking the property through eminate domain.

Let's see, the Soviets are expanding all over the place, AGAIN. I would rather fight them in Europe than here. I agree with letting Japan re-arm. I do, however, think you would find that there would be a MAJOR backlash among many Japanese. There is a very large minority that does not want to re-arm. Let the U.N. do something? That bunch is more anti-American than Obama is.

We need a very strong military. That, at least at this point in time, the only way to insure that we are not attacked. Ron Paul has no clue.

Nah Layout we need to be the Russians friend, we need to embrace the bear and tell it we are with it if it wants to take over Europe. :p

The Russians are at least honest about things, they tell our president what they want and he does it but the EU is a bunch of hypocrites who stab us in the back while taking our money - yes we still give them aid through Nato and the UN. ;)

Yeah, we give them to the tune of 10 BILLION a year. What an amazing bunch in Washington, suppling money to an enemy as they expand their military to surround us. With Obama's blessing. Un-Real

When are they going to get it layout????? It sounds to me that most on here just want to the same old, same old from the looks of that list of people. So sad, especially considering who started the thead. *sigh*

It seems the Republican party has imploded. The only alternative solution for conservatives and libertarians will be Ron Paul.

Fred Thompson or Clint Eastwood

At least we'd have somebody that could act the part and the last actor we had in the white house worked out okay!
