I have one of each, the Hino has around 250,000.The Freightliner is about the same, with the MBE.The Hino's had it's major trouble around 60,000 miles with a blown turbo,7 days in the shop most of it waiting on parts.I've had other stuff go out the warrany covered most of it.The trk has a Allison trans, the couple has been in the trk since i got it new. They had to make the adjustment of lack of hill power and that's not a issue for them, there biggest complaint is the driver seat is uncomfortable.I as the owner hope to get 500,000 out of it,i believe in buying new and the warranty and the low interest rate were a big part of my reasoning for this purchase. The Freightliner was great until the warranty ran out then the EGR valve then the cooler were the biggest expenses, again there's other stuff but nothing that kept the truck off the road for any long period of time. These trucks are not class 8's there cheap,to get into a new class8 in 06 set up the same would have cost 50,000 more for a brand new one.If your gonna keep it 7-10 years and ya got the extra money get the class 8.If i was buying used i'd get a class8,so as much as both of my trucks have been what i expected so far.I'd say if you can broaden your seach and look at some other trucks, take your time and make a choice you feel good with. All hope for best and plan for the worest no matter what you buy.
