Fort Hood Shooting

"Twelve soldiers were murdered in cold blood at Fort Hood. Thirty others were wounded. Our Commander in Chief calls a press conference and begins it with a long thanks to the Interior Department and Indians who just concluded a conference and then gives a good natured 'shout out' to an attendee, all with a studied nonchalance, before he even mentions the outrage on our military base."
Do you think some Obama voters are starting to have "Buyers Remorse?" - He also asked us not to jump to conclusions regarding the shooter and his Surname/Religion. Would this be similar to jumping to conclusions that a Police Sergeant had acted "Stupidly" in arresting an African American friend of the President?

He is just trying to keep the Indians from forming a war party........Attacks on US Bases: Bush 0 Barry 2 not counting the recruiters office in Little Rock

Will someone explain why it is legal for a guy like this to purchase two hand guns capable of firing off 40 rounds without re-loading?

We, as yet, do not know if he re-loaded or not. I will learn more as to what REALLY happened when those wounded get to Walter Reed. I have sources there that will be talking with them and will get an inside view.

Rocket, the Constitution is NOT the cause of this or ANY crime. Criminals are. Period. Living in a FREE nation is NOT without risk. The problem is we, as a Nation, have been excusing crime and criminals as social problems. It is not their fault. That thinking has INCREASED crime. So has the general lack of respect for human life these days. Those of us who are LEGAL law abiding citizens are NOT the cause. Passing laws that will make US criminals will just further increase crime.

If you don't like the Bill of Rights, there are LEGAL ways to amend the Constitution. Just be careful what you wish for. It is likely that ANY changes made today will result in fewer freedom and more government control.

Just exactly what kind if guy was he?? I mean other then a islamic / muslum terrorist, what kind of kind was he? He is a Major in our Military...a college grad with a doctorate in 2 sciences, he is a professional Medical doctor, he is a member of the military that while on base and not in a war zone would not be issued a weapon, but as soon as he had hit the ground in afghan where he was to be deployed, our government would have gladly handed him a weapon including a handgun....

Up until this crime, we can figure he had no felonies, or he wouldn't be in the position in the military that he held...he passed a background check and more to be where he was in the military....he filled out all paper work to purchase the weapons. The only crime up until he killed our troops was bring the weapons on base (which is bad enough)....so exactly what kind of person was he ?

Who said that he didn't reload? If the victims had been allowed to carry, how many casualties do you think there would have been?

I know the constitution didn't cause this to happen... I didn't say it did. The second amendment allowed him to purchase the guns. The question was "why is it legal for somebody like this to be able to purchase guns?" The answer is he is an american.

All you have to do is hear his name, and it all becomes clear.
Not really .....

Try these names instead: Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols, Charles Whitman, Jason Rodriguez, Michael McLendon, Jiverly Wong (a Vietnamese immigrant), Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, Steven Kazmierczak, Robert A. Hawkins, Cho Seung-Hui, Sulejman Talovic, Charles Carl Roberts IV, Jeffrey Weise, Terry Ratzmann, Mark Barton, Andrew Golden and Mitchell Johnson, William Kreutzer, Dean A. Mellberg, Arthur Hill, George Hennard, and many, many more .....

All of them were mass shooters and they all had at least one thing in common ..... they were insane.

All those names caused me some problems with their pronunciation so I looked them up in the dictionary to help. All I could find tho was [ˈasˌhōl]('s) do I have it right?

I don't know that he was a terrorist - but clearly he was an insane psychopath ....

And obviously, he claimed to be, a Muslim ..... but, of course, insanity isn't confined to a single race, creed, color, gender .... or anything else.

Which only goes to illustrate the fact that people who are insane - literally stark, raving mad (albeit, internally, if not outwardly) - can, at times, pass themselves off for what appears to be rational intelligent human beings ... until such a time as something sets them off.

...... so exactly what kind of person was he ?
Well, like I said ...... he was a psycho .....

Cute ....

Yeah ..... pretty much ..... that, he would be ....

Although you could add psychopath to it as well, since that is really a far more accurate definition of what they really are, or were.

..... as to their motivations, or the exact computations they were operating off of ..... who knows ?

It could have been anything .... religion, politics, someone's table manners, the fact that they didn't like the color blue, or people with red hair ..... or that the clerk at the store looked at them that way .... or that they stepped on a piece of gum someone spat out on the sidewalk .... or that it was cloudy today instead of sunny .....

They all were insane people - there is no understanding the real motivations of the insane or pathologically irrational ...... the reasons why they commit the specific crimes that they do defys any sort of real logic or understanding ..... it is impossible to make sense out of ..... because there is no sense in it ..... beyond simply this one point:

They were insane.

BTW, the fact that they were insane doesn't excuse their actions in the least, nor should it in any way whatsoever get them "off the hook" in terms of their culpability for what they did.

The police have that kind of firepower. In this Nation the People have the power OVER the police and the Government. At least, we did when we were free. I don't know about now. ANY weapon denied to the People MUST be denied FIRST to government. There is also some evidence that at least SOME of the injuries in this shooting was caused by "freindly fire" They may have been hit during the shootout with that terrorist. I hope to have a much better idea in the next week or two, NOT from the news media. Much closer to first hand.

Yes I agree they were insane but isn't living in a tin box, driving all over the country and sometimes sleeping in the oddest, most disgusting places in the country a bit insane too?
