Its about time Ford publicly acknowledged this problem. What amazes me is their engineers haven't come up with a permanent solution. The logical fix would be a U-joint instead of the giubo but that would probably involve a new drive shaft and the bean counters don't want to go down that road.

I wonder if I can get Ford to pay for the first giubo I had replaced without a major hassle?

Found this tonight:

Ford dealership did say it consisted of a new driveshaft and 3 other new style components.

The universal joint is being installed on all the new Transits at the factory. I had my second replacement giubo put on last week. It will probably be some time next year before the u-joints make it to the recall market. For most Transit owners having the qiubo replaced every 30,000 miles is a mild inconvenience they must endure every couple of years. Not so for expediters.
