Ron Paul has a nice racket going. Ostensibly, he is raising cash on the premise of running for office. An office he has no chance of winning. Perhaps, his conscience will move him to refund all donor cash and apologize to supporters for this trainwreck laughingly called a campaign.
Don't hold your breath. Some people have asked why he keeps running, especially on the GOP ticket - all one has to do is follow the money. His operation seems very similar to those of Jimmy Swaggart, Jim & Tammy Faye Baker or maybe even the Rev. Sun Myung Moon; appeal to a fanatically dedicated segment of the population who are attracted by the sermons preaching (in this case) libertarian ideals. All he needs to turn them into reality is for those in the flock to send him their money. It does stand to reason he would hire family members whom he can trust -
to not be whistleblowers.
The article in the OP really brings some things into focus, especially the part about collecting receipts for every insignificant item. I especially like the last paragraph about
119 receipts from the Kum & Go gas station in Ankeny, IA. Now, if that's from somebody that was stationed there for 10 or 12 months it might be plausible. Surely someone's not padding their expense account?
