For the bird watchers

All of you who enjoy bird watching should keep this in mind for next year. It is amazing to see all the birds of prey that pass through the region around the lower Detroit River. Our marsh, Pointe Mouillee, draws and hold thousands of them and untold numbers of shore birds every year. The pelicans come through ever fall as well. Enjoy the blog.

Phyllis Haehnle Memorial Audubon Sanctuary

This piece of land is on the back side of my property. The closer it gets to Halloween the more the Sky's are filled with cranes. Pretty cool to see hundreds of these birds aloft at a time, just circling and circling around. They can reach some pretty good altitudes. It also holds at least 1 bald eagle.I haven't seen but some family members have on several occasions.
