First let me thank everyone who responded.
Here is where thins stand. The customer called in the load (after i had left with load #1) requested me by name and truck number. My company sent another truck and said this truck was closer.

When I made an issue of it,the company told me that they knew nothing about it and that the customer had not requested any specific truck. The customer played back (and made me a copy) the telephone conversation of him calling in the load. I am going to make it a point to call a liar a liar to their face and present evidence to back it up.
I informed the shipper that he should have at least called me ane inform me that the load was covered (the shipper is a friend),and I told my company the same thing since they were informed by the customer, and by me via QC that i was dead heading back for the load.
Basically i got screwed out of my time, fuel costs, and leaving a good area to go get a load that was not there.

This customer has and will continue to use me and my truck regularly, but I refuse to make any committment to him unless it comes from my company via the QC.

This was a good lesson learned on my part, and the customer is VERY unhappy with my company for making him out to be a liar, when in fact they were the ones lying to cover their own butts, rather than admit that they did something wrong.
I understand that these things happen and that nobody is perfect, but i was raised to take credit for ALL you do, the good, and the bad. I guess I just expect that from everyone, and thats just not how alot of people do things anymore.

Just FYI: I told that i was not allowed to speak to this customer, and that i was at fault. Keep in mind that this customer is in my home town, the shipping supervisor is a personal friend for many years, and "MY" company has been doing business with this company for over 10 years. These were all facts that the company I'm leased to was unaware of until they tried to strong arm me over this whole issue.
I'll stop here, and once again,Thank You to all who responded the first time.
Merry Christmas,
Happy Holidays,

I think your company was wrong with the way they handled the situation, and I also think you were wrong for not verifying that you were on the load before deadheading back to the shipper.

With that being said,I believe if you continue to confront the company that you are leased to that you will not be leased to them very much longer.DD.

Um, I'm gonna ditto what Doggy said. It's not worth making an issue with the carrier. No QC, no load.

Side note: If you had gotten to deliver load #1 and been QCed with a nice paying job right near where you delivered, you would have been stuck, having committed yourself to this load #2. If you are gonna be leased to a carrier, let them dispatch their trucks.

Would you really want to be leased to a company that lies like this? And what other lies are they telling?

I would agree on a few things. The real issue is that the carrier lied and is trying to cover it up. If that is true, then I would pursue it. Who cares if it jepordizes the lease. If they lie to you here, were else are they lying?

And.....the minute a carrier would refuse or direct the right not to talk to the customer, would be another major strike. If you are acting and hauling on behalf of the carrier, I would consider that a unreasonable request.

So much for bending over backwards to give the customer what they want.

My whole issue in this is that we are not little kids, and we need to be honest. People make mistakes,.........it's how they handle them once they are made that shows the world what kind of person they/we are, I don't always do the right thing, and i deal with my mistakes and try to make them right,I DO NOT LIE ABOUT THEM.
I do indeed have an issue with dishonest people, and those who help them cover up the lies.
I'm not trying to be a jerk,I just want to know the type of people I'm dealing with,as I prefer to surround myself with upstanding people. If the company I'm leased to does this on the regular basis then they are not anyone I want my name associated with.

Once again,I would like to thank everyone who responded.

Thank You,

What kind of ppl are you dealing with? You're dealing with CORPORATE ppl! They don't make their money by playing fair or being moral. In other words, deciept is generally accepted.

If you want to continue having a good relationship with them, I suggest an old song...

Rock the boat.
Don't rock the boat, baby.
Rock the boat.
Don't tip the boat over...

When I was in Door to Door sales many years ago I told A regional supervisor who Lied to me That I did not mind telling a small fib to get in the house to sell, like our company was paying me to just to demo the machine and need two more to qualify for pay,,, But would not put up with a lie from him while making him money... My kind of ethics I guess LOL But then closed my office and told the company to go to 7734 turn upside down which was H*LL

I went out of expiditing for a while, went as a company driver and then got sc---d.I came back, with a truck I thought was a hot set-up,and was wrong.BUT in reply to you, when i came back I went with a company I thought I could trust, with reservations.Low and behold the reservations were true and I left them real quick,I had learned more then I thought lol.I have gone with a company that was not in expidite when I was with them before, doing local deliveries. They are not a great big biggy, and no qualcom to keep person to person interaction,at a distance.WE TALK,they know me and I know them, there is no window between us.[or wall].I have not been lied to,I have had some pretty bad loads, but they have tried to make it up. Also they know if something is messed up,they can call me,I will do all I can to help fix it,we work together. If the company you are leased to ,has lied,I would not rub it in their face, just LEAVE.There are too many other companies out there.
