Actually, I thought it was very poorly said. Comparing the trials and tribulations of expediting, or anything else, to that of serving in combat is disingenuous and silly. To say that the only things you are allowed to complain about are combat related issues, or that any issues other than staying alive while serving in the military are trivial and not worthy of validity is an exercise in aggrandizement. People's experiences are what they are, and they are going to complain, or not, within the scope of those experiences. In fact, it is quite impossible for people to complain about things in comparison to events outside their experience. I've never served in the military, therefore any complaints I may have, that are then compared and contrasted by others in relation to serving in the military, are meaningless and wholly irrelevant. It's precisely as relevant as telling a 3 year old to eat their green peas because there are starving children in Africa.

i agree with turtle. what is the point of comparing the hardships endured serving in the military with expediting?

I bet a bunch of folks are looking at Turtle in the same way my Mom looked at me when I offered to donate my peas to those starving kids, lol.
I agree with both sides: be thankful for what you are given, and it couldn't hurt to ask for more.:)

Here's something else you can add to "How Pilot" is working to make our life easier.

We are currently in the process of updating our wireless networks. Our goal is to complete these updates with a minimal impact to you, our customers.

During this period, you will notice a few changes to the wireless offerings that are available:

Only 1-day passes will be available for purchase. Any time you have already purchased for your account will remain available for use.
Account Management will only be available while users are at Flying J Locations.
Subscription-based WiFi service will be discontinued.
Please visit our FAQ page for details about these and other changes to the wireless networks. We will update these pages as additional information becomes available.

We plan to complete the wireless network updates in the fall of 2010. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Oh, and keep your head down and your powder dry.....

providing showers was always away for truckstops to win truckers business so was the tv lounge. no it is not a god givin right. they do not owe gasers or any trucker a free shower, or free drink. these things were incentives to get our business.
the point of letting them know are oppinions about free showers for gas vans is we are small in numbers compared to big trucks but we do buy alot of fuel per vehicle and this does seriously affect where we buy our fuel and or layover. i would guess most will go in and eat at that truckstop if they are there 24 hours.

Well as I see it right now as of Sept 1 us vanners will lose our showers at Flying J. The Flying J FF will be discontinued on Aug 31 and will work as Pilot Payback Card. Guess I will be using the UltraOne card. And I know they don't have to give us vanners showers but it does and will affect many drivers on where they will do business at. Has any vanners use the UltraOne card yet and what is your opinion on it?

Hear this and hear that....as they say.... I heard, that Sept 27th both programs, Flying J and Pilot will merge and new cards will be mailed out.

Pilot customer service-

Margarett Stewart <[email protected]>;

Thank you for taking time to email me with your concern. I am sorry but
during the changeover we are having some delays. I know as an expeditor<- (get her Dakota)
you were used to using your FF card and Pilot has never had an expeditor
card, however, I have been assured they are totally redoing the driver
payback and they will have a card for the expeditors. I have no idea
what that is going to be but hopefully since I have voiced my opinion
many times, it will be a good one. I guess we just wait and see but I am
doing my best to push it along.

Sincerely

Well as on their site, pilotflyingj.com it says that the FF card will be discontinued on August 31,2010 and that pilot payback card will be used. And on the site they call it a combined card. I am not posting stuff that I heard from people but from PilotFlyingJ website.

Shaun32219

Not saying they won't eventually add us in the program but when they call it a combined card it not. It just discontinueing one. I do hope they will add us and I know they don't have to but it will be nice to have more options for us vanners to get some benefits since even though a small percentage but business.

Well, I was half right. They merged the two programs into the Driver Payback program. But, they made an allowance for expediters (albeit it a lame, half-аssed allowance that few will be able to use, so I was more than half right, 3/4 right).

Loyalty FAQs - Home

Effective September 1st, Pilot Flying J will have a merged loyalty program. The Flying J Frequent Fueler card will function as a Driver Payback card.

1. What will happen to the Flying J Frequent Fueler program? The Frequent Fueler Program will be discontinued on August 31, 2010. Until the program is discontinued, you should continue to use the program and its benefits. None of your accrued benefits will be lost when the program comes to an end. All of your accrued but unredeemed benefits will be transferred to your new membership in the Driver Payback Program.
- For every 1/100 of a Frequent Fueler Point you have in your account as of August 31, 2010, you will receive one Driver Payback point. Each Driver Payback point is equal to 1 cent in retail value.
- For each unredeemed Frequent Fueler shower credit you have on balance as of August 31, 2010 in your account, you will receive one Driver Payback shower credit good for five (5) days.
- Courtesy cups will be handed out for fueling transactions to replace drink credits.
You need to do nothing at all to become a Driver Payback member – you will be automatically enrolled in the program and can use the Frequent Fueler Card you now carry to accrue and redeem benefits in Driver Payback.

3. Can I still use my Frequent Fueler points, shower and drink credits? Until the Frequent Fueler program is discontinued on August 31, 2010, you can use the program and its benefits as you always have at all Flying J locations.

4. Can I still accrue points, shower and drink credits at Flying J? Until the Frequent Fueler program is discontinued on August 31, 2010, you can accrue points, shower and drink credits as you always have at all Flying J locations.

7. I belong to both Flying J Frequent Fueler and Pilot Travel Centers’ Driver Payback programs; can I play in both programs? Until August 31, you can play in both programs. Frequent Fueler will be discontinued on August 31, 2010 after which all current Frequent Fueler members and Driver Payback members will be members only in the Driver Payback Program. If you carry a Frequent Fueler card and a Driver Payback card, starting September 1, 2010, you can transfer all of your accrued points and shower credits to one card by using a Pilot Travel Center Driver Payback Kiosk. Using one card helps you earn and redeem points and shower credits faster.

So after Sept 1, transfer and combine all points onto one card or the other, doesn't matter which, and then use that card at all locations.

8. Should I keep my Frequent Fueler Card? If Flying J continues to be a fuel and services stop for you, yes, you should keep your Frequent Fueler card now and even after the Frequent Fueler Program is discontinued. Once the Frequent Fueler program is discontinued and you are automatically enrolled in the Driver Payback program, you will continue to use your Frequent Fueler card to accrue and redeem Driver Payback benefits. There is no need to get another member card. (The Frequent Fueler card becomes a Driver Payback card)

9. Should I keep my Driver Payback Card? If Pilot will continue to be one of your fuel and services stops, yes, you should keep your Driver Payback card. If, however, you are carrying a Frequent Fueler card and a Driver Payback card and you use both of them, starting September 1, 2010 you can transfer one card’s accrued benefits onto the other card. You can stop at any Pilot Travel Center location and use a member kiosk to transfer benefits from one card to another. By using only one card, you will accrue and redeem benefits faster.

14. How do I earn Driver Payback points? Starting September 1, 2010, you will earn 1 point for every gallon of diesel you purchase at all Pilot Flying J locations. You must swipe your membership card at time of purchase to earn points.

15. Can I earn Driver Payback points on restaurant, J-Care and lodging services? At this time you will not earn points on any restaurant, J-Care or lodging services.

16. How can I redeem Driver Payback points? Starting September 1, 2010, Driver payback points will be stored on your membership card and can be redeemed instantly for products and services at all Pilot Flying J locations and participating restaurants. You must present your membership card to redeem your points. Excluded products include: tobacco, lottery, alcohol and fuel.

(that means that however many points you have on the Driver Payback card, it's however many pennies you have on there. 1000 points equals $10, 350 points is $3.50, and you can use the Driver payback card as cash at the register for anything except the excluded products)

17. How do I earn shower credits in the Driver Payback Program? Starting September 1, 2010, you earn one (1/2) free shower with the purchase of 25 to 49 gallons of diesel fuel (1) free shower with the purchase of 50 gallons or more of diesel fuel at all Pilot Flying J locations. Shower credits are good for five (5) days and you must have your membership card to earn and redeem your showers.

No gasoline for shower credit. Also, 25 gallons? Really? Other than me, who puts 25 gallons in very often? 15 gallons at the J was particularly generous, so I can see why they don't want to go down that far. But at least take it down to 20 gallons. Sheesh. The TA is 50 gallons, but it's a cumulative 50 gallons, so it beats this one up.

There is a brochure (Click HERE) that in the fine print on the lower left corner of page 2, it says specifically NO MORE 1/2 shower credit for gasoline purchases, and in the top-middle of page One, it states that 1/2 shower credit for gas purchases, among other things, will no longer be part of the program.

18. Will I still receive drink credits for fuel purchases at Flying J locations? No. But Starting September 1, 2010, you will be given a courtesy drink cup for any diesel fuel purchase.

Again, no gasoline. Pilot never has liked vans much.

19. Will my Frequent Fueler card work as a pump start card? Starting September 1, 2010 your Frequent Fueler card will no longer work as a pump start card for diesel, propane or gas at any of the Pilot Flying J locations.

21. Will I still receive 15 minutes of free Internet access at Flying J locations each week? No. Starting September 1, 2010, Internet access can be purchased online @ www.pilottravelcenters.com

22. Can I still use my Frequent Fueler card as a caller card at Driver Services kiosks? No. Starting September 1, 2010, you will no longer be able to use your member card as a calling card.

23. Can I still use my PDCA Frequent Fueler Moneycard MasterCard as a loyalty card? No. Starting September 1, 2010, you will no longer be able to use your PDCA card as a loyalty card. Please see the cashier at any Pilot Flying J location for a new loyalty card. Your PDCA card will still function as a debit card.

24. Where can I get more information regarding the Driver Payback and Frequent Fueler programs, my member accounts or Pilot Flying J?
You can visit www.pilotflyingj.com or call Driver Payback Customer Service at 1-800-562-6210 and they will be happy to answer your questions.

Well, that bites! :(
Maybe, if enough drivers make their opinion known to Pilot, the program will change. I don't see any reason why the parties complaining have to drive a gas van, either, so I'm composing my complaint today.

Another good route to go would also get the carriers to give a shower perk to some of these ppl that are sitting for days at a time,,not buying fuel, not collecting shower credits. Im preety sure someone here has gone this far to help his ppl out one way or another????
I understand its not their job to bath us but if they just took a lil money out of their slush funds Im sure they could cover a shower once in awhile..
The folks in the offices get perks all the time. They could very easy strike a deal with some of these major truck stops.
Something in the line of instead of 18 holes of golf they cut back to 9 holes and smaller bar tab and drivers get a bath with what we save:D

Because Flying J gave me free showers I used to buy nearly all my fuel there, as well as buy a lot of stuff in the convenience store. The only time I bought fuel at the Pilot was when there was no Flying J around. I'd get fuel at the TA once in a while, mainly because of the carrier discounts we get, but more often than not the free shower at the J ended up being a better deal overall. But I rarely shopped in the convenience stores at either the TA or the Pilot. The only things the TA and the Pilot were good for, as far as I'm concerned, is the occasional Popeyes at the TA and the Subways in the Pilots.

Now, things are reversed. I've only gotten fuel at a J one time since the announcement of the UltraONE card, and that was only because there wasn't a TA anywhere around. I doubt I'll take more than half a dozen showers a year at the PilotFlyingJ, especially with the 25 gallon requirement for the ½ shower credit. They're getting my snacks and drinks dollars now, as well. Pilot gets nothing. They don't want my business, apparently. The TA's got a better program, and clearly wants my business.

I was told at the Knoxville J by the night manager that they had "forgotten" about the Expeditors, and they were "working" on it. This was after my J FF card didnt start my pump. Besides the shower, that to me is the biggest pain, to have to go in, prepay, then go back in to get your reciept/refund. I am currently looking into the U-1, and as many Love's that are going up, it'd be nice to see something from them as well, but doubtfull.
