Flying J TAB Account

Our TAB card expired while out on the road and we expected when we got home that our new ones would be waiting for us. WRONG in order to get your new cards you have to order them as they are not automatically sent out. They have a seven to ten day time period to get the new cards out and by that time we will be gone again. We will not get the new cards for at least another two months.

So check your expiration dates and get your card ordered early.

YIKES! Thanks for the information Linda. Do you have someone who could overnight it to you someplace when it comes in?

Actually if you stop at a Flying J you can get a temporary card just means you have two accounts. Not a big deal. I keep two accounts one I keep my maintenance money on and the other is for other expenses while in the truck.

Now that we are fueling exclusively at the TA's this is not as big a deal as it would have been in the past. The biggest problem was as nobb4u said was access to our maintenance savings account. You can just transfer the cash to your checking account but the process is much faster if you just move the money out of savings to the debit card.

It would have been much easier if we would have ordered the card while out on the road and the new cards could have been waiting for us when we arrived home. Hope this post though will save someone else the hassle we have to go through.

I used Flying J Tab account for a little while. I didn't like it at all. I opened the account, then had to wait almost a week before they would give me a temporary card so I could get paid...then it expired within 3 weeks and I was told I couldn't get another one and they would mail the permanent card to my house. We all know how often you get by home, so it took awhile to get it. Didn't like not having access to the money.:(

The one thing that was good though is how transfers are pretty much immediate compared to a bank which can take days.

I have found many things very frustrating when dealing with the Flying J including the bank. They really have great interest on their savings account and you even get a little interest on your debit card. The bank is very easy to use when transferring bank to bank but as you say it takes some time for this process.
We keep our maintenance account their and I just upload to that account monthly and this money is only used for major repairs. When we need the money I just go online transfer the amount to the debit card and the money is immediately available and there is no fee. The fun part is you also get the little coupons to use in the restaurant so you get a little more for your money.

You are also able to transfer the money back to your checking account but there is a dollar fee and irritates me to no end. But when your card is expired and you did not get one ordered soon enough that is the route you have to take. Next time I hope to be better prepared for this to happen but I also imagine by the time we need new cards the rules will change.
