flying J shower program saved

Haven't seen it mentioned here, but have you noticed that Pilot/Flying J is advertising both cards/both places? The 15.1 gallons still gets 1/2 shower. Have yet to try it at a Pilot.

Not all locations have changed over yet. The new program is supposed to be 25 gallons. Unless something has been changed since the last thing pilot posted on there site. If your Frequent fueler card will start the pump they probably have not been through the change over yet.

They have published a brochure saying the 1/2 shower credit and 1/2 drink credit have been discontinued.

As a diesel van driver, I now put money on a WalMart gift card to save 3 cents per gallon Murphy diesel. I use my TomTom 740 to find me the cheapest diesel prices on my route and "nearby". I'm saving bundles by no longer getting ripped off by the over-priced truck stops. Now I can afford to purchase a shower at the best places rather than the falling apart places.

If I had a gas engine, I would purchase fuel at T/A. Their showers have improved a lot. Their gas is reasonable; their diesel is outrageous.

That's my opinion.

I do almost the same thing...I also have seen a slight up tick in fuel mileage since not using the J diesel...I've not gone under 23 MPG since the last start of tour of duty....yes...it is a war zone out here...the FREE shower was really over-rated.

I buy most of my fuel at places that aren't truck stops, but I run a lot in areas that don't have a lot of truck stops. I pay for showers when needed or use my gym membership.

I've thought about joining 24 hour Fitness and have them in my TomTom. But, I'm afraid I might get the silly idea that I should exercise and I'm not sure my body could handle that.

Saw the same brochure. But I was at the Hook in Toledo the last week in August, and the clerk said, "Come back soon" or something like that. I told him I wouldn't be back once the gasoline shower credits were discontinued. He said that had been changed, and the 1/2 shower credit for 15.1 gallons of gas was going to continue. A driver was standing there and said he saw a brochure saying the same thing, that it was now not going to be canceled. I have yet to gas up at a Hook anywhere and not get the 1/2 shower credit or get refused a shower I've earned. And then just the other day, I saw that sign on one of their gas pumps showing the loyalty cards and saying, "Both cards, both places."

I hope I'm right, but I finally have my TA card on the way, so if I'm wrong, I'll be covered. It would be nice to be able to work both shower programs. TA seems to be improving a bit, and now since we'll be able to get Pilot coffee at Hooks, that's an improvement. Now if the TA desk clerks can be brought up to speed on the existence of our shower program, we'll have it made, being able to shower almost anywhere.

If it wasn't for those dang Denny's...Why couldn't they have made some of them IHOP or Village Inn?

If they have changed they have not updated the web site it still says....

How do I earn shower credits in the Driver Payback Program? Starting September 1, 2010, you earn one (1/2) free shower with the purchase of 25 to 49 gallons of diesel fuel (1) free shower with the purchase of 50 gallons or more of diesel fuel at all Pilot Flying J locations. Shower credits are good for five (5) days and you must have your membership card to earn and redeem your showers.

I haven't bought gas or anything else in a "J" in 3 weeks....the Pilot website says diesel only, the text messages i get from time to time from Pilot / J have said nothing about Gas shower credits, only food specials....

I'll stop in one this week and ask, if the 15 gallon purchase still gets a half a shower, I'll get a new card and see how it goes, but I am not going to go out of my way to seek them out, but i will stii park at them when it works.

The showers in the TA's that I have been in have been top shelf and the shower heads are GREAT....

You can keep using your FF card if you don't want to bother with a new Pilot card, but it will be with the new rules.

My van holds 26 gallons of diesel. I'm not waiting until I'm down to 1 gallon to earn a 1/2 shower credit. That's just plain stupid.

When the J's was 20G's many moons ago..I carried a 5 gallon Canadian gas can around...7.5 US gallons...a little inconvenient but got me the showers...

Yes its true for us gassers the shower program is over at the hook, I had a run from IA to TX and 1 out of 4 hooks would give me a shower. So I have decided not to patronize them anymore, But I will park in their lot though.

I thought the liter/quart was something like .948 so the ratio of gallons wouldn't be 1.5 to 1 would it?

A Canadian gallon was officially called an Imperial Gallon and was equal to 1.2 U.S. gallons.
