Flu Vaccines

It's that time of year again. If you haven't gotten your vaccine yet, now is the time. We go so many different places and are exposed to so many different people, protection is a good idea. Who hates being 1,200 miles away from home and having to go OOS for a couple of days, only to have to go back IS when you're not fully recup'd? Everyone!

Getting mine today.

Never have. Never will. :waves:

I did once...3-4 years ago when they started this racket...thing is the vaccine is outdated by the newest strain that makes it ineffective in "some" cases....never have had the flu in over the 11 years I've been doing this...

oh wait...my first and only shot was in Canada where it is free..;)

I didn't used to either, til that fated winter when the associate veterinarian on staff put his baby in daycare. Then he started bringing all kindsa germs in from that Crumbsnatcher Corral, and my coworkers and I spent 3 months always sick with.something. The next fall, our boss bought us all flu shots. Made it through that winter flu-free. I have gotten them all but one year since, and the year I skipped was a really really bad one. Some people don't want them. They don't have to...but just a reminder for those who do that the serum is plentiful and available right now.

I got a shot once, guess what, I got the flu.

Never again.

The year I skipped, no longer office manager at the veterinary hospital, but rather working in the safe, non-people confines of the credit union processing center...my late husband had his first heart attack in February. I of course went to ER with him where all these people were running around coughing and hacking and gagging. By the time he got out of the hospital 10 days later, I was the one coughing and hacking and gagging with a 101 degree temp. Never skipped it again. It doesn't say it will 100% prevent the flu but will lessen the severity if you contract it and it doesn't fight it off. One way I know it "takes" well, is if I have the mother of all reactions the next day...slight fever, headache, feeling blase'. That's the immune system kicking in.

My insurance covers mine because I am, unfortunately, type II diabetic...either way, when I had to pay, I gladly did. It works for me. It works for a lot of people.
