Can anyone from Panther driving a straight truck tell me how long they've waited to get a run out of Orlando and if they get any decent runs out of here? We took a run from Northern PA to Miami over holiday, and got an EM offer to Orlando and took it since there's only two boards here. Just wondering how it is here since we've never been down this way? Any advice? Thanx!!!

I haven't been down there in over a year, when I was part of a team, but we got a load after 12 hours to Atlanta. I believe you need to sit 24 hours to get you're EM, but after that go out of service for a couple minutes then back in service. Sometimes you get another EM, or call team lead and see if they can EM you.

I know DaveKC has posted that he normally has had no problem getting his Panther based trucks out of Florida. Might message him. I am a statewide carrier only, and would say that Orlando is your best move. If your carrier gave you an empty move to O-Town, I would assume that they believe that to be your best bet as well.

Back around feb or so i was down in tampa and delivered a load. Drove through a tornado to get there but i made it on time (true store). After dropping off sat about a day and got a load going up to maryland from there. I hear horror stories but i've got freight out of places people say they never have nor ever will get a load from. AKA Montana.

we live in fl. and we hardly get a load back out unless it's a load to miami and I'm sure not going farther south when I couldn't get out of fl. from where we were.

Hey Poison,

if you're with a smaller carrier, you can many times get them to locate a brokered load for you when you're ready to come out. Dunno your carrier though. Bigger carrier could be the same. Do you ever call them when you want to leave, in addition to putting yourself back in service?

Are you with Panther, because they seem to be getting out of Orlando. Who knows. It may just be that they are coming in quicker than they can go out.

We found out a long time ago. Just get out of Florida anyway we can. Landstar has most of the contracts down there sewed up. They are located in Florida and everyone loves them. But it's your choice.

87% of Florida Manufacturing companies employ less than 10 people. Also Florida has a tax for items that are manufactured by employees but company owners who make products do not have to pay that tax so there are alot of super tiny companies.

The object of the game is to have a small employee base so tons of freight is pretty scarce.

Hey Butterfly,

Tell us what happened. Did you get a load out? Did you move?

Sorry so long to get back...we didn't end up getting a load out of Florida. We put ourselves out of service so we could do some things and when we went back into service, we got an MT move to Charleston, Sc. We sat there for two days with no change in board position, so we went up a little ways, and got a load within an hour. We've been running some different places then normal, and I don't really like them. Lots of deadhead to get into a place where we could even get a load, and then lots of deadhead to pick up the load. The only good thing is that we've been south and not messing with the winter weather up north. This is my first winter out, and although my husband is from up north and very experienced in winter driving, I'm trying to avoid it until I absolutely have to go in it. I know it'll be okay, lots of people learn to drive in it. But I'm thankful to be down in the sunshine right now!

We were just in Orlando. We delivered on Wednesday, got loaded on Thursday (in Orlando) and delivered in Anniston AL today. Last time we were in Orlando, had to DH out.

I guess it all depends on when you are there and what they are looking for.
