Flaccid passion

I don't post as much as I used to for whatever reason although most would say I love beer.
I say because I am bored and whether it be a "mid life revaluation" or a "full plate" I really don't give diligence due to expedite.
I choose to make light of or folly the days events that involve folks participating here and for this I apologize.
The proceeding only defines my credibility..
My real beef is with a diamond in the rough AKA Greg as I submit this challenge.
Greg speak as though we are high school folk and we should receive the message you convey with the same passion but more important the vigor and competence to stand and make a difference.
Cliff note...
I don't get what the ##### your saying sometime cause I don't know or really give a flying ##### about the name of the Senator from Idaho or Michigan is.
Props to you for making me curious but if I don't have the number to call and complain what have you gained?
I love ya bro and look forward to your next post but am STUPID.
Sooo if you are so passionate state you argument and rally us sheep type folk and with your crayon give us a map with 2 paths to follow trusting of course you have made a real passionate plea to follow the correct shepard.
I only say this because I care but don't have the time or passion to get up to speed on things that ##### me off.
Just being honest.

Flaccid passion?

Mike,
Glad to see your honesty. Sorry it took me a while to reply, I had to cook diner today for a bunch of people and they all just left.

The thing is, I don’t expect a lot of people to understand what I am saying which is really bad on my part, but I expect people to care and ask questions – so thanks for this.

When I post something to reply to Tallcal, I know he knows what I am talking about and expect him to counter with some way off thing to deflect the post.

But as you seem to want to know and no you are not stupid, below are some links that can explain what I think everyone needs to know. This is far from a complete list of addresses and such; there is so much info out in the world it is impossible to be a clearing house for even a small part of it.

The constitution – this is the starting point for any person.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Constitution - this is a good explanation of the document with references to different parts.

http://www.historyplace.com/unitedstates/revolution/us-constitution.htm - This is a complete text of the Constitution if you want to read all of it. I would recommend that everyone read it.

http://www.senate.gov/civics/constitution_item/constitution.htm - this is the senate’s page that explains each section and amendment, it’s ok but it is condensed explanations.

How government works –

http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/usconstitution/a/govt101.htm - this is a good start to answer a lot of questions on how things work.

http://www.house.gov/baca/resourcecenter/how.htm

The congress – here are some resources for people to find their senator/congressman and how to write to them.

http://www.senate.gov

http://www.house.gov

Both above these sites are informative but you got to search for things. ALSO you can find your federal representatives.

http://www.citizenredress.com/

http://usgovinfo.about.com/library/weekly/aa020199.htm

Federal Budget – remember this is a complex thing.

http://www.cbpp.org/3-7-03bud.htm - a good intro

http://www.gpoaccess.gov/usbudget/ - if you want to read it, I have had to in the past and it makes poor reading.

http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/federalbudgetprocess/Federal_Budget_Process.htm - a good jumping off point for a number of Federal Budget issues.

The White House site is also a good information source –

http://www.whitehouse.gov/

Recommended books – books that I recommend (very short list)

The Federalist Papers

The rights of man

The Miracle in Philadelphia

The Forgotten man (the book) by Amity Shlaes

There are other books but I got to find my complete reading list.

I also recommend reading the essay “The Forgotten Man†by William Graham Sumner at http://www.gregstruck.com/forgotten_man/ - this single essay puts into focus what problems we are really having socially and why.

But with all that said, here is some criticism of this industry at large. I read a good article in Landline Friday about truckers and how a lot of them pulled together for the Special Olympics and don’t want to say this is not a really good cause but I find that if we can put an effort in doing something good for the Special Olympics, why is it that we in this industry (collectively that is) can’t take the time to write a simple letter or vote.

For all I have done at all kinds of different companies, I am really disappointed in this one industry and with the average trucker who complains about how bad things are but does nothing to change things, it is frustrating to see how American truckers claim to be at the same time acting like there is nothing that they can do. We all make fun of the UAW at the same time we forget that the UAW can easily get their members to write a letter to their representative on issues which is no longer being done in this industry. Am I crying about this? No not at all, just pointing out that there are things we can do as a whole industry but no one wants to do them.

From one Mike to another Mike, looks to me like you are castigating the wrong person. There is a certain Team that consistenly posts about how wonderfull they have it and are prepared to weather anything short of a nuclear attack. Their stuff gets old real fast while Gregg's can be enlightning.

RE: Flaccid passion?

Yes sir you are right and after receiving an e-mail from a mutual friend I need to retract or at least rewrite my thoughts...
Greg is one of the top contributers to the forum and has been as long as I have been popping in.
I enjoy Greg's posts as well as he makes me think but sometimes am left feeling like I have only received half of a book and not the whole script.
No person addresses the the Political causes with as much passion as Greg...
My point is simply back it up with links (aka a path) so as stupid people such as myself can intelligently join the fray...
##### even explain your side so that by some off chance I do not catch the jist right away I can consider as I go about my mundane existence.
That was my intended point.

Mike,
I don't think that you need to rewrite anything, I think you are right on.

I leave off some info on a lot of issues because I expect people to question it, to look for things or to discover things for themselves - if I point to ever resource I use, I would write novels with every post which will cause more complaints and told that no one can read what I write at all. We already have one novelist on board, why have another with a subject many ignore anyway?

The links I posted are the base or foundation for almost everything I talk about. I would like to see people to use them and learn so I don't leave people in the dust.

And your not stupid.

Yeah, Mike, you're not stupid - just a lil dusty, lol. Like most of us, myself included.
I don't always agree with Greg's conclusions, but he is one of the treasures of EO, because he is honest and real. His posts inspire us to actually think, as opposed to just thinking "Yeah, right!" as some do. It gives me hope, knowing there are folks like Greg out there, who genuinely want to be good citizens, because the USA needs all of them it can get. I just hope there are enough...

RE: Flaccid passion?

From another "dusty one"...Greg's posts make me go "huh?" where the heck did he find that! LOL I'm an internet junkie, and when family wants to know something they say "ask Judy, she'll find it for you"
I have quite a few of the above sites bookmarked, but I get irritated when I can't find what I'm looking for. So much of it seems to be written in greek to me. Next time I'm looking for something on the state of the world, I'll "ask Greg!" :7
