Seen an ad in the classifieds for a published book on expediting. Don't know anything about it but it might be a good read for those folks that are interested.
Don't really know, but it may be the first published book on expediting.

I think Linda Yates is the first...I have her book from back in 2006. It was a fun read, mildly imformative and honest. She didn't come off as superior or smarter than most...it is just straight up honest. Don't know if it is still published. Page Unavailable TITLE: The first book on expediting trucking. Author Linda Yates, publish date December 2000

Linda Yates use to be a expediter driving the "White Tiger" truck. I think they exited the industry many years ago but not sure? Haven't heard that name in quite some time.

Not sure if this is the same couple, but when i 1st started coming to EO, there was a couple in a ST and the lady was writing a book and often spoke of it here and each time she was roundly critized and was treated like she hadn't been around long enough to write a book on expediting....

Could be the same people? Should have some experience at this point as that was several years ago if memory serves me correctly.

And another one that moved to the Phillipines and started a water taxi business...when he said he was going to write a book, he was belittled by a suggestion that he should give his information for free...that same poster who made that suggestion has now announced that he is going to write a
book (for sale of course) I wish that guy in the Phillipines will follow up on his book....

I know she tried mini seminars on expediting but I don't think the market was large enough to support it...would like to know what happened to them....

You must be talking about the Rev. As far as someone else writing a book I believe Phil was talking about a expedite history book at one time which would be different than what is presented with this one. Don't really know but I guess a life and times or how I started is out since someone has already done it. It would seem a little redundant to do the same thing.

On March 20, I blogged about my decision made that day to write a book.

Excerpt:

Today was also a big-decision day. I made the formal decision to write a book about expediting. People have been encouraging me to do so for years. I have thought about it off and on but it was never a priority.

It clicked today, and I decided today to write the book. It came to mind that I never felt like writing the book before because I never felt ready. With most of Diane's and my expediting experience being with just one large expedite carrier, there were large segments of the expediting industry that I knew little about. But with a carrier change made last June and the knowledge and contacts gained at the Sylectus conference in February, it clicked, and I now feel ready to write the book.

This is a big project with no deadline so don't hold your breath waiting for the book to appear. But honest work on the book has now begun.

Nothing new has developed since then regarding my book, except that I have been working on it and, as I said in my blog, it will be quite a while (maybe a couple of years) before the book sees the light of day.

"Often spoke of it" is an understatement. That's all she talked about, her book, and how it was the definitive resource on all-things-expediting. Every post from her was either about the book, or about how she knew enough about getting into expediting to tell newbies how to do it. It got really annoying really quick.

Yeah...and I bought one of em for about $10 or so at a MATS show way back when. Wish I had that $10 back. I could buy a scratch off ticket and at least have a chance of getting something. It was really, really....i mean REALLY basic stuff that you could learn by reading the forums for maybe...hmmmm....10 minutes?

It is not the first published book on expediting. I know of at least two others.

I stand corrected as I was unaware of anything really being published as a book. I am aware of a few how to manuals that were being sold but as mentioned, they really offered little value to the reader or potential newbie.
