First night back on the road and someone breaks into my truck.

Hello all. I'm a noob who just got started back in Sep. 2014. I worked about 3 months and had to stop for a while because of health reasons.

I'm now back on the road, and was surprised to find out someone went into the back of my truck and stole my straps and load bar. Seriously?

I was loaded in Chicago and unloaded in Michigan. I made it to the flying j around 2am. I fueled, parked my truck, did a quick walk around, and went inside to shower and eat. I came back to my truck and went to sleep.

After waking up and doing my what-nots, I did my pre trip and realised my backdoor was halfway open. I looked inside and saw that my load bar and four straps were gone.

I told the truck owner, he thought it was funny. He sent me a cash advance to replace what was missing. And told me not to call police because he didn't want me to miss out on any loads he may find for me.

Just thought I would share this story with you all. Guess I'll be keeping a lock on my truck even when empty lol.

Lesson learned.

Yeah, that's the unfortunate lesson. You can't trust anyone and you keep a lock on the doors all the time.

Unfortunately that was the only eventful thing today for me. I'm still sitting empty. Oh well, guess I'll make this a Netflix night.

I've always kept a lock on the back doors, load bars, straps, blankets, etc, aren't cheap, and thieves are opportunists. If you use the round lock, putting a tennis ball [you slice a slit into it first, lol] over the lock keeps the water from freezing inside it when it's cold enough to freeze. Hope it gets better for you.

PS I drove for an owner like that, he just laughed at everything - wish I could, I get mad when someone cheats me.
