hi,starting with FED EX CC on sat 26th.newbi here,any advice that would be helpful?not worried about driving,just worried about getting the paper work str.getting 60/40 split.driving (d)unit solo,white glove division.how offen does FED EX have classes to get my endorsments for explosive,radioactive? working for a o/o out of delaware.

Relax, study your books or be knowledgable of them your dispatchers should be able to guide you along just explaine your new. When I was with them dispatch was always helpfull with any questions I had. As for the others ask your owner or someone else here with more FECC knowlege can help you.

Earl FedexCC has classes about 2-3 times a year,however running solo will generally excuse you from explosive loads as usually the US Government wants teams in case something happens to you and you are incapacitated. Radioactive shipments can be handeled by solo drivers, best to have a long fuse and lots of patience as the workers at the power plants do not know how to speed things up. But the Power companies have lots of $ and always pay detention. Good Luck and keep us posted as too how things are going.

Just entered WG and at orientation it was basically made clear that most WG loads require constant survailence requiring two drivers, and even an escort. Took two WG loads this week and both were CS loads. I'm surprised that WG would even allow solo because of all the extra requirements and time constraints. Wish you all the luck, welcome aboard.

Beachbum, how long did the qualifying process take for fedex, from the time they received your application to the time they told you-you qualify, or can anyone give me an idea how long the wait is?

They will dispatch Radioactive loads with a solor driver if the trip will work under HOS rules. Most Explosives require DDPS and CS so teams are needed. However I did do a 180 mile trip under CS as a solo. Had to have fuel and restroom taken care of before I left the shipper.
