financial projections

I'm hoping ya'll might be able to help me with my financial projections spreadsheet.

I've decided to sign on with Landstar Express when they will accept a sprinter cube van. My challenge is attempting to crunch numbers because of the many variables in pay for loads.

Does anyone have suggestions on guesstimating monthly income for my spreadsheet? When I bought a tractor & signed on with Dart, I calculated a conservative average miles per month thru the year, knowing (hoping?!) that it would balance out with some months being higher miles and other months lower because of fluctuations in freight

Pop a wheelie, darnit!

Projections in a perfect world would put you in a roughly 5000.00 per month revenue. This is you dedicating to stay out and work until you meet your goals. Some due less and many do substantially more! How dedicated to making money are you. Do you plan on going home every week? Are you going to be available for dispatch on Friday night? This is not a Monday thru Friday job. Also it kills me to hear how operators want to go home the end of the month! Go home the first of the month, but be there for the end when shippers realize they screwed up and to to move there freight! This is the biggest mistake you can make! If you want to be home nights and weekends go work at Walmart as a greeter! Honestly just kidding about Walmart, but you get my point. This is a job of location and commitment! You gotta stay out and work the hot area's. Good luck and keep us posted how you make out.

I know this is not a Monday thru Friday off on the weekend type job. I just picked up another tip of being available at the end of the month when shippers realized they screwed up and must ship. Any other good stuff out there? :+ :+

Thanks for the financial figures!

I don't have a problem working weekends, & am attempting to get my fleet manager to get me into a condo, as I want to stay out at least 2 weeks at a time now. I could stay out in this mid-roof, but if I could get a condo, then it would be much nicer.

When I was a railroader, I was on call 24/7/365. Only when you get about 30 years seniority do you get a chance to bid on a regular job.

The tips about being available weekends, 'specially end of month is really helpful! When I take time off, it's during the week anyway.
