Finally Introducing myself!

Good Morning All!

My name is Matt and I have joined the world of expediting. I have only been doing this type of work for about a Month. I am currently driving a Sprinter for an O/O.
So far I have really enjoyed it and learning a lot about the expediting world.

I have been following and listening to all of your advice for about a year before I made the switch from doing computer support for over 15 years to driving OTR. I won’t bore you with why I got out of it other than say that I got tired of listening to the doctors complain.

Anyway I felt it was a good time to introduce myself before I started commenting and asking questions on here. I look forward to finally interacting with all of you on this is awesome forum full of knowledge.

I hope you all stay safe out there and have a Blessed day!

If the Drs were complaining about your persistent weight gains, you made a left turn by coming to expedite.

Otherwise, Welcome aboard.

Hang on, it can be a bumpy ride. :)

Hey Matt, welcome to the madness...we're a pretty good bunch.

Well, most of us

I agree with English Lady; Moose pretty well covered it in his reply, especially his response to "this is an awesome forum full of knowledge"

Looking forward to having you as part of the gang!

Thank you all! I appreciate all the warm welcomes. From what I have read from all of you, you are all a great bunch of hard working people.

I have always wanted to be on the road, ever since I was a child and now that I am 38 I am getting a chance to live out a dream that I had ever since I was a little kid. My brother who is old enough to be my dad started driving big rigs when I was barely old enough to ride a bike and I would spend every chance I could going with him across the country.
I remember already telling everyone that I was going to be a truck driver when I grow up. Well when I was in highschool I had to take a semester of computers and remember saying I will never need this because I won't need it. Well about 6 years after graduating my late girlfriend of almost 15 years got me into computer work.

She past away almost 4 years ago and life has not been the same since so I decided now was the time for me to hit the road.

As for the getting tired of supporting the computer systems for about 200 + doctors goes. Well let me say that the ones that never wanted them in the first place would be the first to complain when the systems would go down. Go figure. Anyway after doing it for 10 years with the same bunch I decided it was time to do what I always wanted to do or at least try.

Thanks again everyone and I look forward to interacting with you all for a long time.

Welcome aboard. Do you have future plans of moving up in vehicle size or buying your own Sprinter?

Thanks, I'll try not to bore you all to much:)

I actually started out in a cargo for about two weeks and then moved up to the Sprinter . Much nicer ride although the Ford cargo was not to bad considering I've always been a Chevy man. The owner wanted to see if I would last and with no real experience in driving for a company before I moved up to a Sprinter.
It's nice to stand up and put my pants on instead of bending over every which way. But I did not complain as i was expecting to be in his cargo for a couple of months but I think be saw how hard I started out and decided to move me up sooner. Glad he did :)

Anyway my actual goal is to move up to Straight truck next year. I wanted to make sure I can handle the being away and living in the truck stops world first. I want to be an O/O of my own straight truck.
