Fees you carrier charges you

I have been reading in other threads about fees that carriers are charging their O/O's.

I was not aware of these types of fees as I have only contracted with FedEx CC and I am only familiar with there charges.

The only deductions FedEx CC has taken from my settlement are a QC fee, work accident insurance, fuel tax settlement and the cost of random drug and alcohol testing. (I don't think I should have to pay for the drug and alcohol testing but it is in my contract and I agreed to it.)

What companies are charging processing fees or other oddball fees? How much are these fees and what do you get for your money?

I charge a fee for stupid questions asked by a contractor on odd numbered Tuesdays during a full moon. The fee is payable to me in either cash or steak.

QC, and my truck insurance thats it....oh and I just told them to take the cost of a Load 1 Jacket out of my settlement in one payment....lol, they don't even charge a fee if you use the company issued fuel Credit Card. They pay for the drug teat too.

If you get your truck ins. thru FDCC you have that taken out, your health acc. will be taken out, your QC ,and each quarter your fuel tax.If you have a drug and alcohol test that too will be taken out.
The difference in most companies is the amount that is charged for these deductions.
You also in the beginning had an escrow taken out, that will draw interest each month.

When I ran a D unit back in 2005 with the "L" company, you know the guys down in Florida, well they used to have a charge for everything, and not a bit of information when you called them.
Come to think of it I have not seen one post from any of their Operators. Are they still out there?

Don't forget the cost of required things like DOT inspections and reefer maintenance if have one. These are not carrier fees per se, but you might do them differently if the carrier was not there to say otherwise.

No fees here, which obviously I like. I've been with companies that forced workmans crock down our throats. That one is the one that peeved me off the most.

I don't recall the exact numbers but the general idea is accurate. To make workmans crock insurance pay for itself, I would have had to been injured every 3 years & laid up for 6 months at a time to make that rip off pay for itself.

QC is one of those things that I used to hate. I don't think it should be a profit center for the carrier. That part would be less than thrilling. However, in the last year or so I'm not so opposed to a GPS system so the company knows exactly where your truck is. I've gotten loaded by having that (Sprint, not QC) that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

I believe, if your Company is located in the lovely state of Ohio workmans Comp is required by the State unless you can show comparable coverage.

Kentucky requires Workers Compensation for employees, and Occupational Health insurance for self-employed persons. Most states require similar.

When I started at Bolt, we didn't have to have Occ Health coverage, but within a few months we were told the the State of Ohio had decided to make it a requirement for self employed people in the state...we were free to buy it from anyone we wanted, but we had to show proof to Bolt for the state....

The workmans Comp and Workmans Insurance are realy a dead issue with me.

I have to have wins because of my State

But the Company takes out WC and that gets passed down to the ower who takes it outa my pay which ive been around and around about.

needless to say if i ever have to use it I best be able to double dip. Its only fare I pay it so I should get both and in full. No reduced payments either.
