Why do you not qualify for white glove services ? And God has nothing to do with it, I doubt God knows anything about FedEx or white glove.

Seems like your busy Shane, how are you enjoying expediting so far ?

One of the differences between WG and surface trucks is the amount of extra freight handling equipment that is required. Blankets - straps - corner protectors - pallet jacks - lift gate and the list goes on.

Many surface trucks are White Glove qualified but carry pets. These trucks are often called in to take a WG load where the customer does not care if there is a pet onboard or not. We have been in WG for almost a year and I am surprised how many customer specify no dogs on the load notes.

White Glove consists of both dry box and reefer trucks.

We ran a surface truck for six years while carrying our dog Molly. We were on the White Glove waiting list for much of that time. When Molly passed away we were then placed into a White Glove slot and became a fully qualified White Glove truck.

There are many times when we consider dropping the WG flag and going back to being a surface truck and having a pet on board once again. We really miss the calming presence of having a dog and that wonderful happy watching and waiting for our return when we step out of the truck. We have found in our situation that we will stay WG and get this new truck paid for and then once again play with the idea of having a pet.

We enjoy much of the WG freight and the special handling it requires and the challenges that are often presented to us. While we saw some of this in Surface we did not see as much. There are advantages to both programs.

Then we would be of no use to the female species.i love it. Will be better when i get the inside of my van dialed in completely. With functional electric and entertainment center fixed up. But everyday um out i adjust something better etc.and the not spending money out eating n on stupid stuff at truckstops is a challenge but thats my goal this time out. And driving slower as well. A whole 15 mph slower. I save about prob 80 xtra miles on a tank this way to.

some customers pay for specials needs...someone has to service them...and that is just the way it is....

Take Load 1 for example...John has a "Special Commodities" division.....stuff a customer wants moved a certain way and handled a certain way....that could also be named White Glove.....

They will not, however, dispose of pallets.

I don't think anyone noticed that this successful expediter after announcing his pallet actions while I had a lot of people poo poo'ing my point and defending that successful expediter, he ended up in my company with the same customers I have had doing the same thing I was doing - being my own boss.

Wow when you think about "success"' following true success, maybe going that extra mile and not acting like they are better than the rest of us is the way to go... Just say'n

If the customer pays the cost....a carrier will do what needs to be done....

Greg...isn't that a more personal observation of your own right there?

I don't know what you mean, I can count on a few owners who followed my advice and is doing very well, better so than our successful expediter. It's funny when you think about it, I'm not the only one who seems to think this way.

Some people will read into that post as IF a certain expeditor took your advice they might have been more successful....and your fan club will flare up..."Greg334 is Great Club"

But i'm thinking that would be copywrite or trademark infringement.

We are a TVAL/White Glove truck. We have also ran surface for a while and still run 'surface'. loads. We try to avoid the surface loads, they tend to pay less, FAR LESS, on average then White Glove/TVAL/Reefer.

TVAL/Reefer trucks cost more than surface trucks so they HAVE to produce at higher levels or go broke.

We have been at this for almost 7 years now, and again on average, White Glove fright is FAR cooler stuff! LOL! Funner to handle and often more work. And, as everyone knows, cool factor is EVERYTHING! IF it ain't cool there is no point!;)

Them's that poo poo it, are just jealous.

If you want more info, drop me a PM.

Molly was the nicest, easiest to get along with expediter I've known so far. I miss seeing her and catching up on what's going on.

Let me offer this for expediter wannabees who may be unfamiliar with the term "white glove" and its use.

FedEx Custom Critical White Glove Services[SUP]®[/SUP] is a branded line of services offered by FedEx Custom Critical. As you can see from the name, it is a registered trademark. According to the company web site, "FedEx Custom Critical White Glove Services feature specially trained drivers and specialty equipment for the safe transport of your most sensitive shipments. These services include a full range of temperature-control offerings as well as a complete suite of Secure Transportation Solutions."

Within FedEx Custom Critical, the term "white glove" is used informally in various ways. People talk about white glove drivers, white glove trucks, white glove loads, white glove dispatchers, etc. But people, trucks and freight do not fit as neatly into these categories as the names suggest. You will see non white glove drivers hauling white glove freight and white glove drivers hauling non white glove freight. Depending on circumstances, a white glove truck may or may not be used to haul a given white glove load.

Outside FedEx, other expedite carriers provide similar services but brand them with different names, or the same kind of freight may be hauled without branding the service at all.

White glove freight is not exclusive to expediting. It could be argued that every household goods or high value load is a white glove load.

In the greater transportation industry, the meaning of "white glove freight" will vary with the person using the term. In general, white glove freight means freight that requires special attention, care or handling of some sort.
