Fedex Rumor-Mexico

A fleet owner friend told me that Fedex will acquire "chosen" Mexico based trucking firms to complete the last leg of expedite freight runs into and out of Mexico. This does not surprise me,sounds like a good move by Fedex...my guess it will be called "Fedexico"

lol thats good ..but close too true, mexico trucking will go where the money is,,expidite will not be immune count on it ...anyone whosays diff is foolish... money is like water ..it will follow the path of least resistace ..grasshopper..lol.. this will effect all freight ,sooner oe later
the driveras who loose the border freight will start looking at your freight , when your freight gets tight you will look at bobs freight ..so on and so on. the article saying expediing wont be affcted by mexico is not giving you da full story. of course it will over time. remember if they feed this to you slow... chances are you wont see what hit you...REMEMBER GOOD PEOPLE trucking ..by most economist thinking is considered not much higher than nonskilled labor, anyone can do it,, and the pay potentially can be great than some proffessional white collar jobs .. they feel it should be gutted. it is some of the highest cost when getting a product to the consumer.:7 :7 those smillies are to make you feel warm and fuzzy about a situation that can potentialy effect us in the future.. better stay on top of this one fellas.

because ther are so many drivers, that are uneducated,is the reason for trouble with the revenue in trucking, and this didnt just happen
when I started, there wasnt what we call back haul, pay was constant.
whats going to happen with the mexicans comming in,is at first, they will be getting less revenue, just as JB Hunt did in deregulation, but when these cheap carriers cant deliver,it opened the door for expediting.
I've been getting top dollar hauling freight to the border towns for almoost 30 years, before I was an expeditor,in fact I use to haul airfreight from jfk to california couple times a month, also before I was in expediting, and the different carriers kept dropping the rates,on something they didnt need to do as there was more freight than trucks.these cheap csarriers didnt deliver, and my rates were always met,in those days I had my own authority.
so with all that said, mexican drivers dont bother me,but non english speaking drivers do,if you dont speak english, get out.most everone in this country has family from another nation, but we all speak english,
I'm tired of this crap, press 1 for english 2 for spanish, how about 3 for french,4 for greek,5 for russian, why is it only english and spanish, boy did I just go off track.I'm out of here

I hear ya Creach!! But a true demand for something will always carry a heavier price tag when its not met.. Example the hurricanes in florida, whaer my parents live devastated. many homes and businesseseses ,my parents damage was minor .the demand for construction labor was way high and the availabilty was way low.. My parents could not get anyone to look at their problem for weeks because the money was in roofs, their problem didnt pay, what these guys could make roofing was phenominal., shortage in rental property, the same you.. couldnt rent a cardbourd box for under $900 a month. due too construction help renting, if you owned a rental property .you made out like bandits.
I think the driver shortage is a little disinguenious, If this were true .. pay would be better and trucks would not sit long..
The driver shortage pushed by the big trucking co, is a matter of flooding trucking with drivers to lessen the demand only to drop the cost of freight. Introducing more drivers via mexico, will try to solve this.
If you have 10 loads and 3 drivers we win ..they will bend over backwars to woo us to run thes loads..better pay, fuel surcharge, they will promise dancing girls for your personal assistant.
but reverse that 3 loads and 10 drivers,,they win.

a blast from the past, back in the early 80's @ roberts express,we were doing saginaw steering in auburn al.its now delphi, but anyhow back to the story.we were doing so many loads from there that anyone close to there was asked to go.on one such ocassion,I was loaded doing my check call,at that time we had to call in every 4 hours, anyway next to me was a landstar guy,and he was telling his dispatch he couldnt deliver straight thru to the gm plant over by st louis, these loads were all shut down loads,he said for what it paid,he wasnt going straight thru,so what I'm saying is you get what you pay for,and these cheap companies are going to help the business of expedite

Any Expedite Carrier worth their salt, should have already aligned themselves with a Mexico based "expediter" to help eliminate downtime
"bottle necks" docking freight at the border. You won't probably be driving into Mexico any time soon (I can't imagine the Mexico Border Crossing bashing on this site if you did) so, the sooner your Carrier aligns themselves the better.

I would agree with the Colonel on this one. Most did all this last year or sooner. Or at least the ones that did alot of border frieght.
