FedEx NOT bankrupt, repeat NOT bankrupt.. details

It appears I was politically incorrect and offended some so maybe this reporting of fact won't do the same. FedEx was fined $4000 for interfering with official police radio frequencies. See http://blogs.zdnet.com/ip-telephony/?p=1590&tag=nl.e550 for full details. The parts that stand out to me are that after being informed of their interference to police radio that is to "protect and serve" the population they continued their actions. Then when they were fined for repeating a known violation they appealed, as if $4000 is anything in their overall worth. They probably spent more on lawyers appealing than the fine.

This isn't a bash of FedEx. I would say the same thing about Panther or any other company if it came to light. Using radio spectrum reserved for public safety departments is a violation and more than that it is bad corporate citizenship. I'm honestly surprised at their actions and hope they have taken the right course of action now.

I think there will be more on the story. They weren't actually ON the police band, but close enough to interefere. Someone had to OK them, and SELL them the equipment to be on that freq, and they thought it was OK. I agree once they knew they were interfering, they should have changed freqs, however, maybe they didn't have the right equipment to go to another freq, or something, and they wanted to continue business until they did.

I don't know, I'm just sure there's more to the story, and whoever OK'd the equipment will have some 'splainin to do'.
