FedEx is doing away with the CC as just CC

FedEx Custom critical will be making some changes to our CC's.
All of us that are leased to FedEx Custom Critical will now have CC dispacher's. And FedEx will be going back to Cat Teams Again, they won't be as small as they was in the mid 90"s. I think this is a Great thing for the O/O and the company. From my understanding there will be CC's working 24 hrs a day now which is great for the owner's and driver's.

But Dave is this a really good thing?

I finally got a CC who I could work with and not tell me I am wrong everytime I try to correct something. Does this mean that I will have to deal with a seperate person on an issue that could take a few hours or days to fix?

Nope, Katie. I like dealing with her better than Angie. Angie was not my Van CC, Tonya was but that is another long story in itself.

My understanding is White Glove will still have traditional CC's and the rest of us will have a team of CC/dispatchers. I believe our "team" will not change as CC's have in the past. The idea is to build a long lasting relationship between us. I think this should be an improvement. I really like my current CC but it is the first time I can say that. It will be nice to be able to get a CC after 1630 monday thru friday and on weekends too.

I can see why they are doing this, they will be getting one person to do the job of 2 and save money in the process

I never thought CC's were ever there to help us, I've never had a CC actually do anything for me. Tanya was ok, but I never had any issues until she left. The CC I have now is an absolute Idiot.

SO nothing will change execpt certain peoples work loads will get heavier and there will be more attitude when u refuse a low paying load. Sounds like a great plan.

Pam, our CC, has done an extremely good job.
Vicky has done likewise several times when she has acted in the absence of Pam.
They're both very OK.
We appreciate their good work.

Christina is my current CC and I could not like her more. She is fairly new to it and has been willing to help all she can. I have had so called veterans before her and they have been pretty complacent and really just company mouthpieces.

We too are like Doc and are fortunate enough to have Pam as our C.C. But sadly, she told us today that she would be switching to White Glove only. We hope the new program will work for us as well as some think it will, but we will really miss Pam. She has really been there for us.

I think the prolbem with the "mouth Pieces" is that they have been in the postion too long, @ this point of there careers they have heard it all and have faught the good fight and dont even bother anymore because they know any and all of the driver compliants are moot points and they can not change anything so why bother, thats how they become compmay Mouth Pieces, which I believe hurts Contractor/company relations.

As with the "kids" thats what they are, Like Katie who is 22 23 years old are really trying to help, but shes boxed into a corner to, she & everyone else around her thats realitvely new to the game will learn what the CC's before them learned. Which is next to nothing.

I agree. The vets are burnt out, heard it all etc. etc... but when I am asking for information that is available to them and run into a brick wall thats when it gets me fired up. I know they can't pull a run out of thier hat or change company policy but like I said they should be willing to share the information available to them with me to help me make a sound business decision on whether I should move, stay put etc. etc... I was in this situation with a vet that has been named in this thread. I asked her if she could not provide me with this info then what was her function there. She stated that it was her job to make sure we contractors were following company procedures and policies. I almost fell out of my truck. I asked her to please repeat it as I didn't want to misquote her since I was writing it down and asked to be put through to the supervisors voicemail. She started backpeddling then. I have no need for a CC that wants to be a policeman only. It was my understanding they were there for us and until my current CC that had not been my experience.

The vets are the ones going to White Glove and for once I'm glad I'm not WG.

Exactly A CC was suppossed to be there to help us, our Liason to the company if you will, Thats what I was told The CC's where there for. Its all BS.
My CC actually told me that I should be taking all the runs and wether I make $20 ON A RUN THAT A PROFIT IS A PROFIT, that I cant hit a homerun with each run I too asked him to repeat himself as I wanted to than speak to his supervisor. There was some back pedaling, It was after that conversation and the next one I had with Marriann that made me decide to have the attitude I have now.
FDCC wants to run there business a certain way, thats fine by me. I run my business a certain way, Right or wrong, its just how it is and how it has to be.
I have heard how when this company was Roberts and even during the early years of FDCC it was a pleasure to do business with. How things have changed. Bascially since they have moved into the new Compound things have changed.
I guess with strong competion and growth as a whole in the trucking and manufacturing indusry down across the board, corperate policy dictates that certain policys are enforced, what does FDCC care about the average Contractor anyway? There is always someone else out there looking to sign on. The never ending recutitments and orienation is proof positve of that.
It does not matter if you the contractor has 1 truck or a fleet of 10.
What scares me is that FDCC is suppossed to be the best in the industry, thats what I've heard. So maybe in the end we ARE the lucky ones, & that my friends scares me to no end.

Well I got to add this;

I think that FedEx would be very wise to illustrate the structure of their system to help us navigate through issues. I don't have time to go to green and sit there trying to figure out who is who and the changes that are not being communicated to us.

It is bad enough that there has been three changes within the CC group (that I know of) since I started with FedEx and I keep hearing that the reason for some of the 'regular' changes is to prevent familiarity (I can't think of the proper term but a form of cronyism) which my solution is resturcturing the resolution path, not change the CC - it is stupid that this is done. I think that making changes that introduce ambiguity like this is tiresome and frustrating for many of us.

Fed Ex Weekly Report says:

On March 5, we will combine the contractor coordinator role with dispatchers, giving you one true point of contact with the company. They will all be able to perform the traditional duties of a dispatcher and contractor coordinator. In addition to run-related issues, dispatchers will now be able to handle questions on paperwork, settlements and basic safety issues.

Additionally, dispatchers will be available later than the contractor coordinators are today, including weekends. There will be 24 dispatchers in all.

We will maintain three contractor coordinators for White Glove Services contractors, as well as one contractor coordinator for fleets (those with five or more vehicles). The Contractor Relations department will maintain its current role, assisting you with issues related to your lease, requests to add a vehicle, discounts and contractor events.

A letter explaining this change in more detail, as well as the changes with the settlement sheets, has been sent to all owners’ homes. You should receive it next week.

From the explination I got from my CC, I am very unsure this is going to really work. As I told her, this is not a good thing to build relationships with. It took me a while to feel that I had a dialog with her, seeing I am the type of person who does not like to have changes dropped on me - like the previous 4 CC's I had.

The first thing they really need to do is get the communications together if they want this to work. I have already run into a lot of problems with dispatchers not documenting conversations or problems and having to repeat over and over the same issue to a few people over hours or days. Having to deal with one person or a couple people that only handle issues that have to do with contractors is a plus but having to deal with a person who also has to dispatch and do other things is a big negative. There are a lot of other ways to streamline the performance of a department if money is an issue.

Oh well it is FedEx.

You all are sure negative, about this change.Actually it is going back the way it was,CAT groups, and dispatch will now be able to answer your questions, instead of chaseing you to the vru.
Give it a chance,if your not happy,PantherII has an ad with a phone number.
