I think almost everyone out here has gone through FedEx Orientation.
We haven't, they dont like our truck !!!!!!

Be sure to ask your guided tour escort about going to the FedEx branded store next to the cafeteria cashier. Take a couple of highlighters with you for the handbook. Sticky note pads were also helpful.
Try to establish who the experienced folks are and pick their brains at breaks. Make sure you get Canada forms and docs if your owner or you want to cross the border. Seals too. Oh, and they didn;t open the door to get in too early either. Its on the West side of the building

Yes, and eat hearty!! There are NO free lunches. Get your times worth there in free grub if you go, because there will be a cost involved. I see by another post you have a month or so to explore other venues........suggest you do just that!!

Yea,they will make exceptions for certain owners, my first owner got me out of orientation,never been there. I did however attend W/G training though. FedEx requires Haz Mat too but there are some drivers for large fleets able to run without it. Thats just the Feds policy what ever suits them at the moment.

I went to fedex orientation and I don't have hazmat, but I do have a passport.
To the best of my knowledge, the only forklifts you'll encounter will be the property of the shippers & receivers, and you have about as much chance of being permitted to operate them as getting a load to Hawaii.
Damifino why the forklift cert - Plan B, maybe, in case you change your career goals?
Gotta agree with Cheri..can't imagine what the forklift cert is for. If it's something the school is doing, I'm guessing it's just something to get more money out of ya. We did forklift certifications at the factory where I used to work..about 30 minutes a year. I would ask how much I could save by not doing the forklift cert. If it's more than $5, I would keep my money.
If forklift doesn't cost any extra absolutely get it. There have been two times in my 8 years when I was offered to operate the forklift and could have been loaded and on my way sooner had I done so. I've had no formal training so I declined although I think from watching I could have managed. Just like hazmat etc. forklift is another tool. Better to have it and not need/use it than not have it and wish you did.
Yeah...but are you going to keep it updated? It's not a one time thing as far as I know. It may be different state to state as well. I guess if they actually put you on a lift and train you, that's worth something just for the experience. I've got some dirty socks that are probably worth more than the actual license though...imo.

FedEx forbids you using customer fork lift. It is against policy.

I feel certain that having the training/license will not disqualify you for anything.....how's that?! Lol
