My wife and I had our first JFK run last week. All went well until we wound up at the wrong cargo terminal totally lost.
I approached several terminal employees only to be met with blank stares and no help.
As we pulled away to give it another try, my wife spotted the Brown terminal. We pulled our red, white and blue Fed Ex D unit into a see of brown stepvans surrounded by brown uniforms scurring about.
My wife bounded out amongst the brownies and asked for guidance. Again, blank stares . . . . then one of them explained that they only come to this terminal to pick up and then leave so they really don't know the other terminals.
Then enter our hero!! Screeching up to a halt in typical Brown style, he jumped from his van and said "What are you trying to find?" My wife replied "bldg 151". He said "Japan Airlines, the Airport is my route, follow me." then we took off.
We proceeded to chase this guy through 3 stop signs, 1 traffic light and a traffic circle until he came to a halt and pointed at Japans Airlines. As we pulled in we turned to thank him and he was gone.
Today we honor this hero with this post and ask you fellow expediters if you have ever had someone save the day for you.
tell us your story.
