Fed Ex chasing Brown around JFK

My wife and I had our first JFK run last week. All went well until we wound up at the wrong cargo terminal totally lost.
I approached several terminal employees only to be met with blank stares and no help.

As we pulled away to give it another try, my wife spotted the Brown terminal. We pulled our red, white and blue Fed Ex D unit into a see of brown stepvans surrounded by brown uniforms scurring about.

My wife bounded out amongst the brownies and asked for guidance. Again, blank stares . . . . then one of them explained that they only come to this terminal to pick up and then leave so they really don't know the other terminals.

Then enter our hero!! Screeching up to a halt in typical Brown style, he jumped from his van and said "What are you trying to find?" My wife replied "bldg 151". He said "Japan Airlines, the Airport is my route, follow me." then we took off.
We proceeded to chase this guy through 3 stop signs, 1 traffic light and a traffic circle until he came to a halt and pointed at Japans Airlines. As we pulled in we turned to thank him and he was gone.
Today we honor this hero with this post and ask you fellow expediters if you have ever had someone save the day for you.
tell us your story.

We had an interesting experience on Long Island this past year. We took a load out on Long Island going on I495 east and noticed that the road was closed going back west due to a hazmat spill. We had just delivered out on the island and we received a very nice load offer which of course was picking back up near Trenton NJ. We knew no way were we going to make it as we do not know the island well enough to go alternate routes. We were in the turn lane to get back up on I495 and a dump truck driver pulled up alongside of us and said do not go up there you will be stuck on that road for hours I know a way around that mess just follow me. We followed him for several block and he then motioned for us to pull up alongside him. He then told us to turn at the next light it would take us back to I495 and we would be around the mess. Wow did he make us a lot of money by being as helpful as we made the pickup on time.

Sounds familiar. The day after JFK, we had to deliver in Long Island near Amityville of all places. We then sat on 495w for a long time not knowing of any alternatives. Next time we will keep our eye out for a dump truck.
