I have a chance to drive a D untit White Glove no refer. The owner said I can run it solo. I would have to pay fuel Owner is paying tolls. Before I tell them a YES or NO I want some insight on this is it worth it? I want to make a living off this! I am a single guy no kids I live at home! Should I ask for them to pay fuel and give me 25%?? How much can a solo White Glove D unit make? Please respond ASAP. Thanks

If you read back over the last year of general, newbies and recruiter forums you'll find your question answered many times over. The common split is 60/40. Taking only 25% would be as big a mistake as not reading back at least a year in the forums to learn how much you don't know yet. Good luck.

Rich Moore recently posted about his experience as a White Glove solo driver over the last year or so. He's the one to ask.

Fleet owners usually prefer teams in their trucks. It speaks well of you that your fleet owner is willing to run a solo driver in a White-Glove-equipped truck.

Well I called the owner this morning they told me they would not do a 25% I need to pay fuel... How much can a SOLO make white glove? I dont have the cash for paying fuel. Does FedEx give you money to put fuel in??? Kinda scared with fuel prices going up and up if I should take a chance....

If you are buying fuel you should receive 60% of the trip revenue and 100% of the fuel surcharge. Your owner should supply you with a Com Card. This card allows you to get 45% of the trips revenue up front in order to pay for expenses. After you are loaded then you can ask for 45 or a lesser % to be loaded onto the card. It is then used as a debit type card at trucks stops ,atm's etc. However it will cost you! $1.55 to have money put on the card. Then you get 3 hits off of that amount, then after the 3 there is a $1.00 charge for each additional hit. Best to have Com Checks with you, that way you can write yourself a check and deposit it into your bank.

The owner told me only 30% I can get. ??? This is with FedEx CC White Glove. As a single Will I be sitting alot?? I also have a class A but like straight trucks better. I have to beside soon I just dont want to be 300 or 400 miles from home and out of money no fuel. the truck is a D unit it is a tractor inverted to a straight truck. Also if the truck would happen to break down does the owner get the driver a room or a way home?? I know with the trucking company I worked for before they got you a way home or put you up in a hotel???? I need these things answered before I say yes or no....

With todays gas prices i would ask for 65%, gas prices are only going higher. Like was mentioned 100% fsc, 50% deadhead, ask for 40% on the com card. As far as breakdowns go-be specific, just ask, after a certain amount of hours of waiting or the moment it is know how long the truck will be down, will you put me up in a motel, rent a car, or greyhound. hope this helps.

Jackk based on what you are saying I would tell this owner NO. Take some time and look through the forums and you can get an idea what owners pay for and what they expect out of you. 30% is not enough.

This owner sounds fishy. Sounds like he's trying to get over on someone who has no experience in the field, at least till Jack gets wise and takes a hike. I'd also tell the owner no thanx, and look for someone who knows what the going rate is.

This is exactly why I keep saying read the last year's worth of posts. Some people think I'm being mean or a jerk or just not helping but that isn't it. As the saying goes, "knowledge is power". Coming in and asking a single question or maybe two and getting only those answers is very little power. Reading back a year and absorbing the information from scores of good questions is a lot of power. Anything outside a 60/40 split should be viewed suspiciously until thoroughly checked out. Forget this deal. Don't waste valuable time that could be spent learning from the forum pursuing this Edsel.

Well I told them and they are upset with me. Said they will be calling FedEx CC to report me. So I suppose FedEx will be mad now and not hire me anymore??

I dont get it! why because you were looking out for your best interest, if i were you i would walk away, there are other fleet owners out there that are'nt going to take advantage of newbies.

Everyone calm down,as you all know, expedite is straight thru delivery
white glove does not,DOES NOT DO LOAD TRANSFERS,if a
D unit is running single,he will be getting mostly non white glove freight
if white glove has a load a single can do,it will be up to the vru,if he even comes up for it
if you split 60/40.make sure your 60 is before the fuel surcharge, then after your 60 you should get 100% of that charge,at this rate, your pay will be much greater than the 25 or 30% drivers pay.
i recomend that you try to find someone to team with,it will be to your advantage, but if not wanting to run team, expedite might not be your cup of tea
good luck
