Suckup.........I have noticed an increase in non-automotive loads for me, and don't mind it at all. Actually, just so it keeps me moving and making me money I really don't care what kind of loads they are. As long as they are not hazardous. At least in a van.
I remember not long ago when everyone was noting the much lower number of auto loads that were being hauled? Also the fact that they hadn't been seeing Taylor nearly as often? LOL. We have seen the slow down across all divisions, even specialized. I honestly think it had a lot to do with Washington running the fiscal cliff to the last minute and failing to pass business tax codes before the year started. I think it spooked a lot of companies and hurt the recovery.
As for going past the current 48 states we service......not sure on that one, lol. I don't think they expedite via ferry to Hawaii but that would be cool!
As for Canada 80% of the fleet doesn't want to, can't or wont go??? I think that includes the Canadian that suggested it. Right now it is just Ontario (which is kind of like another state
On the upside....last weeks average revenue per unit numbers saw a decent upward movement. First time we had seen that in weeks. Still tough out there. Lot of our competitors are laying off staff and other things to cut costs. We have not done that as I worry it would impact the ability to get freight.
