I don't think anyone here had bad intentions. We all know what shop we are talking about and they have a long history of doing great work for our people and putting Load One as a priority. Let's not make a big thing out of something that may be nothing. Now everyone play nice
After the PM I now know which shop it is, or at least the name of it. What I don't know is the historical or present politics surrounding the shop, nor why Wolfman is mad. What I do know is the history of Sprinters that have been left uncovered and exposed to the elements. What I do know is what the Technical Service Manual says about protecting the electronics, connections and wiring from excessive moisture. What I do know is that while it is possible that they chose to spend the 4 or 5 hours necessary to properly cover and wrap everything including split looms to prevent water collecting in them, rather than spending the 15 minutes required reinstalling the hood, its unlikely they would do so. What I do know is all kinds of future problems can be traced back to and blamed on leaving the engine compartment exposed if it gets rained on, snowed on, or even dewed on. What I do know is the trial and error to track down problems that result from even short term exposure can be very time consuming and expensive, and the van owner is usually the one who eats that.
