Cool, another face to put with a name. We drove the van home from Detroit (bought it used) in the summer. Came out during the winter. Long haul and expensive, so we fly home.

I think it's cool (pun) to have Alaska as a plate. Mine is not as unique

Lost the big long post I had for ya. Most of it was for companies that would road train you, but you had to get your CDL first.

Roehl is a great company to get started with. They pay ok for rookies, tho they have some quirks I don't like, like driver facing cameras. Their trucks are basic. No fridge in most, and no inverter. You'd have to buy/use their inverter, as they have a battery apu, from what I understand.

If your dad can get a grant for cdl training, there are many other good companies that'll road train. I think Roehl requires a year commitment for their training.

Check out the trucker's report, if you haven't already. Many guys there who will point your dad in the right direction. It was an invaluable tool for me to find the company I drove with. Take your time searching and investigating. I took a month, and don't regret that decision a bit.

Good luck to your dad!

Looks like I didn't lose the last post after all. LMAO.

Thank you for the info you nailed it on trucker report I used them back when I was in cdl school to weed out bad companies. I dunno why my dad doesn't wanna go to a similar route to me but he's wanting paid training ‍♂️

The training after the CDL school is paid. Are you sure the CDL training is paid?

300 more miles and I'll be searching for Brady's missing jersey in Houston.
Can anyone recommend good place to eat there?

The plates are a great conversation starter, it's fun hearing about peoples Alaska experiences and plans to visit.

You know you are south of the country in February, when instead of salt you got bugs splattered on your windshield.

Cumberland yard? did he come out and say...where your Hard hat?....:)
Haha no, he didn't have to. Express Family is laid back about most things, but they're anal as heck about wearing PPE on rail yards. They tell ya flat out that if you're reported for not wearing it on a rail yard, you won't get paid for the run
