Kelly's third grade class is working on learning the United States. There project is to try and get a postcard from every state and our daughter wondered if anyone would care to help her by sending her a postcard. Her schools address follows:

Mrs. Glenn's Class
Academy of the Sacred Heart
619 N 2nd Street
St. Charles, MO 63301

Hope we can overwhelm the class at how great expediers are.

Not very many for sure so your postcard should do it! I think she and her class will be thrilled to get some from truck drivers.

Sent one today from California; you know the card, the one with our truck on the front.

I have to say this, it is too funny Phil, I think she meant something post card with a state symbol or a picture of something about the state or the state it self, not your truck. How can anyone learn about California with a picture of your truck? :p

YES OVM any state will do just fine she just wants post cards from all over the United States. I think if she was to get one from Canada she would be even more thrilled. You know third graders are pretty easy to impress!

I think the postmark will also work just fine.

So I stand corrected. :D

But Linda the girl down the street had a similar project last year and wanted something about the state to discuss the state. I sent her a lot of cards from the west and south. They were a little taken back by the "everything is larger in Texas" post card with the big long horn on the front. It gave them a days worth of discussion.

You know Greg I figured the kids would probably love the Jackalope from Texas but I imagine you are right the teacher would probably like state capital postcards or state outlines. I think though when they get a postcard of Phil's truck they will very impressed with the flag mural and the truck. I am sure if they are like me they love postcards of anything which is why I have a large collection of postcards myself.

Yea that's true, you can't miss those strips. Even passing me on I40 a few weeks back (I think that was you Phil?), his truck looked good.

Well my sister told me that her class liked landmarks for discussion, like the alamo and the Hoover d*m. I gave her cards from NY and SF and the kids loved them.

Collecting post cards is a great way to help remember your travels on the road. They are cheap and easy to store. As the stack grows, it is fun to go through it and remember the places you have been. Later in life, seated in rocking chairs, we will have hundreds of post cards to look at and remember the good old days.

I learned this from a friend at home when she mentioned she collects post cards. For over a year, Diane and I sent her post cards from around the country. While we were at it, we bought cards for ourselves too.

I would not worry much about the teacher's intent. Teachers are a creative lot and can turn any post card into a teachable moment. The images are fun to view, whatever they may be.

Linda, over the next few days, we will send post cards from the states we are in. If nothing else, the class will get the idea that expediters get around. :)

I figured she wouldn't need one from Canada if her project is re the different states, however I will be happy to oblige. I guess we really are kinda just an extra state anyway.

A thank your from Kelly who the class is now in awe of!

A thank you to everyone from Mrs. Glenn’s class and Kelly of Academy of the Sacred Heart, we are all enjoying all the postcards and looking up where they come from. You guys have the coolest job and get to go all over the place. We will be collecting the postcards through out the year and look forward to any and all you send.
Once again thank you!

From what Nicki has said Kelly keeps trying to explain to her class that all these truckers she does not know are sending in the cards. Nicki said she was just bubbling while talking about this and looking forward to each day in class for mail call.

Hey Dan if you can get her a card from Alaska I am sure she would love it! Molly also said to mention she is not thrilled you have called her another girls name!

She does send her regard though with her nose slightly in the air!

This is good to know. I have a couple more to send - MN and WI - but did not know if the class still wanted them. They will go out this weekend.
