Benny Parsons passed Tuesday as a result of complications from cancer treatment. Phrases like "a truly class act" and a "genuinely kind and decent human being" are being used to describe him. He was absolutely my favorite among the current crop of NASCAR announcers. You could tell he was just having a blast being around the sport he loved. To put some perspective on the years of experience he had to draw on, he began stock car racing in a car he bought for $50.

Thanks for posting this. I well remember watching him years ago, and enjoyed listening to his announcing.

I haven't watched much TV the past couple of days, and hadn't heard.
