My KW had the EGR valve go out. Apparently that's pretty common on the ISX since service at 2 dealers (my selling dealer at home and the dealer in Little Rock where they were) immediately mentioned it when I told what it was doing. Determining it wasn't life threatening they eased back the 30 miles to MHC in Little Rock. The truck was also due for a DOT within 2 weeks so I said put it on the ticket. My stupidity.
At the T/A the other truck got a DOT for $45. At my home KW dealer it was $65. I figured on similar numbers versus another down time for however long the wait would be elsewhere and the anticipated extra $20 wasn't bad. Getting the invoice it was $101 for the DOT.
I called service and was told it's 1 hour labor rate and that's what it is. I mentioned the rates at the T/A and my home KW dealer and got a yawn in reply. I then emailed through the corporate website requesting they contact me about the overcharging. I never got a reply. I left a voice mail for the dealership manager and never got a reply.
I have torn MHC out of the KW dealer handbook. I will avoid them like the plague. I won't even refer an enemy to them. I emailed them again saying I was tearing the pages out unless a reasonable solution was reached. No response to that either.
Consider this your fair warning if you stop at an MHC dealership.
