Extranet Password Reset

Have you reset your password yet? Did mine and got it to work first time. But its not easy.

Getting the PW thru the VRU is a real trip. As has been documented here before understanding that computer voice can be challenging, but when you can`t understand the spoken letter OR the descriptive word, you`r in big trouble. I thought no problem I`ll just replay it...WRONG... It changes the PW every time you hit that option 8.

Oh well in 90 days its time to deal with it again. (Folks at Kinko`s have to change theirs every 30 days)

Another system designed by geeks who never have to use it. GRRR!

I have to admit, this is a difficult process. Like you, I thought we would be able to listen two or three times to get it right but it changes EACH time you replay the message. What a nightmare!

If I couldn't understand the letter the computer generated voice said then I would listen for the pronouncation of the word using the letter but by then I had forgotten whether it was upper or lower case!! Ugh!

I also sent an email to security asking how to change the password to something I can remember once it was changed to their password but they don't know yet. It is too new and they aren't sure how we can change it on our own.

Sounds like this is going on the WART list along with the horrible log books and the HORRIBLE check in/out/up/down/around silliness that's left over from the Robert's days when there was nothing but a pay phone and check in/out was the only option. It wasn't "broken" so they haven't fixed it. It's sort of like Uncle Harvey's Model A Ford in the barn. It still works perfectly well as it was designed to. It's just WAY out of date like the check in/out/departure call that should all be handled more modernly now.

This doesn't affect the pword to call in to the VRU does it?

No. it's only for the Extranet. Detailed information about this is located on the Extranet and was also included in the past 2 weeks E-mail that comes out on Friday.

The voice mail messge on the VRU states new paswords will be available as of today, but unlike those who have posted previously, I have not yet received my notification. Based on their experience - I can hardly wait. :(

I received the "paperwork due" message on the VRU and proceeded to obtain my new password for the Extranet. Actually, I was able to clearly understand the message and obtain the needed information on the first attempt. :)

After reading the above posts I finally decided to get our new password and get it tested before I hit the deadline. I was prepared for this to be a real pain but I was like MYGIA and had no problem understanding the message.

I was prepared with paper, pencil and no background noise as I think any noise or interference in the sound would have required me to start all over.

Very wise...It would also help to be on a landline with a good quality phone. Perfect hearing would also be helpfull.

Dont know why the whole process can`t be done on the putter.

The instructions posted on the Extranet say we can change our password any time after we first obtain and log in with the computer-generated password.

I obtained and used the computer-generated password as instructed (one of the most user unfriendly passwords I have ever seen), and am now frustrated because after spending time and effort looking, I can find no way to "change your password at any time."

Does anyone know if the ability to change our passwords exists and if we can define our own passwords? If so, how is it done? Please tell me I am the deficient and blind one here, and not the company that says passwords can be changed but provides no way to do so.

As far as we have been able to find out there IS no way to change it. Unless we have missed something we are STUCK with these wierd computer generated passwords for the time being.

It just occured to me that "change it at any time" may mean only that we can call in and get a new computer-generated password at any time.

Wouldn't that be wonderful? Instead of having a password we can remember, we now get to write down something like "sZmOL5Ya" and look it up every time we want to access the Extranet. Never mind that writing down passwords is a contra-indicated security practice. Or, we can make a phone call to get a new password every time we want to access the Extranet.

I feel so much more secure!

Or we can tell the browser to remember it for us thereby making the system less secure than it was before this "change" was implemented. This seems a corporate equivalent to Obamanizing. It's change alright but it's bad change that creates a result other than the desired result and is bad for all involved.

It does not sound as if we will be able to customize our password. Get practiced as we get to do it again in 90 days.

Well, today they booted me off, so I had to go through the process of getting the new password. Did not have any problems with understanding it and writing it down.
Now, where am I going to keep this password so I can easily get to it when I need it???? Tried to change it to something that I can remember, but there is no way to do it.
The stupidest system I have ever seen.

I can echo aileron's experience. As I had other paperwork coming due at the same time as the password (and knew what the ppwrk was) I was hitting the skip button and inadvertently wiped out my p-word message. Today...no extranet...whoops. I called in on a landline as redytrk suggested and heard it fairly well. Now if I can memorize something like this every 90 days maybe my mind isn't getting feeble after all!
