Well there McBuggy, i'm relieved to see SOMEONE gets it. Obsessive, is what it takes to succeed. Those that tink "doing your own thing" will simplify their lives are, dead wrong. If you "don't wanna" and, don't when the phone rings once in a while, then the phone WILL stop ringing. As an example, steada dreaming bout a vacation to Belize, you first have to dream bout, who is going to cover the freight while you are gone. And, if you can't surround yourself with good people that wanna, then, you are it. Period!

A quick question , which I am sure will get ridiculed.

First off, I plan on doing this without quitting my present job , which is straight days.
I just miss the road after being on it and expediting for a local mom and pop company, there were just no benefits. Is the reason I left but you could not have asked for a better boss.

I was thinking of buying a used van and getting my own authority. I know a few local mom and pop expediters who have to refuse runs at some point because they have no available vans or B trucks.

I live close to a major airport and i know for a fact there is quite a few expediting runs that leave the area.

I am just wondering If I could get enough weekend and nightly runs to make it feasable .

I can show you how to make more money in 10 mins a day than you could with a cargo van running short diatance. not a pyrmid and does not require selling.

IMHO, if you want to give a true go at this industry full time is the only option. I never new another expediter who had a full time job back home, just my opinion.
