We've been with Express-1 since Oct 07. We drive a 22' straight truck for a fleet owner. We really like the company. The load planners are all nice and friendly (Gina, Jenny and Rick are favorites), and customer service is very helpful if/when you have problems while under load. Safety personnel are very friendly and helpful and are quick to mail you more logs and/or trip pack envelopes when you call to ask for them.
We've never had a problem with getting paid for loads as long as the trip packs were in on time. (Our owner is great about paying us every week as long as he gets paid because our trip packs were in on time) We have done some cross docks with them, the latest one being a load that was bound for PA from Iowa and we needed to get home. We live in Michigan just northwest of Toledo so they had us drop the load at their dock at Toledo Express Airport and another team picked it up and finished the load. No problems.
They have always been great about finding us loads going in the direction of "home" as long as we give them about a weeks notice of when we would like to be home. They are good about paying deadhead after 100 miles, (We always ask if there is DH pay when they call with the load offer if DH is over 100 miles) and are good about rescheduling pick-up/delivery times if circumstances beyond your control (weather, traffic tie-ups, vehicle problems etc) may cause you to fall behind.
They are a well-known, reputable company and very professional, yet at the same time very personable. And you get paid $50 if you get stopped for a DOT inspection and you pass.
