Express-1 announced Tuesday a rate increase for the Straight Truck division!

Beginning March 1st, this rate is taking the base rate for Straight trucks to $1.20 per mile for solos and $1.24 for teams, in addition to FSC, Canada bonus, hazmat & lift gate accessorial. .

Did you know? Express-1 has also been DOD cleared and now handles both Temp Control and DOD freight at a premium of $1.55 to 1.65 per mile plus FSC to those with Special clearance.

What a great way to start out 2012!

Good deal. Maybe this will start a rate war where the carriers can all try to pay more than there competitors.

If you've got an E-1 Sprinter you can get free shore power at Pilots.

what is the fsc formula based on ? is there a dh program ? doesnt this increase in rate bring the rate back to where it was before they decreased it ?

I think your exactly right...or.... are they still a nickel short?

I've never ran dod or temp controlled either, but I'm not sure that's such a great rate for that either..or is it?

From what heard in the past those rates suck. I know one team that was escorting a straight DOD load and they made so much money that he bought a brand new convertable Bentley.

Good question. Is it really an increase if they took it a year or so ago and now are deciding to give it back?
I bet the vanners are bummed since they aren't getting their 10 cent reduction back yet.

I only remembering when OVM lost his 10 cents. Not sure what that took their van rate too? I don't pay that close attention to them.

Yes... 3 years ago straights were $1.20....

FSC is or may still be calculated on the MIDWEST average which is the second LOWEST in the country...and they round off DOWN, never up....if comes to 25.9 cents you get .25 you lose they win....

used to get .70 for NLM and major customers and .80 for all else.....and then everyone became a major and the .80 went away....sprinter type load from 1.05 to 1.00

Based on that I guess the vanners are subsidizing the straights?
Got to be tough recruiting on the low rates. Even the 1.20 for straights is just bringing them up to "average".

They were $1.20 in 2004 when I started with them and fsc was based on Midwest average not national. Back then you only got deadhead pay in a dozen or so states too.

at the current avg. using the midwest, fsc would be .27 so the rate would be 1.51 for teams and .04 less for solos
