Expeditor's delight

If you can remember at one time there was only three.
Roberts Express,Tri State and Eagle were the ones to see.

Eagle soon failed,Roberts changed names
But good old Tri State stayed the same.

Now we have LEA,Conway and Panther Two
plus many others just to name a few.

Who is the best,no one can say
because what was good yesterday has changed for today.

Times are tight,revenue is down
But one company found the $ to move to a new town.

A small building went away
but the huge replacement is here to stay.

May the highways and byways be good to us all
and above all let the deadhead remain small.

The previous musings were fueled by a beverage out of Colorado..

Sitting in the Custom's land
This barrier of the free
I watch the "purty" trucks roll in
As quick as honey bees

So harried and so hurried
To be held up by the booth
To hear the dreaded words
I can NOT cut you loose

You park the truck
And grab the paper wad
Strut across the parking lot
To get the broker's nod

Then the custom agent
Is the man you gotta see
You've got to hope his tempers good
Or will he hassle me?

Look helpless at the agent
and hit him with the plea
"In bond" is the big question
Finally he lets you free

Just like a kid
You skip across the lot
Running across the border
Is in your every thought

Now I've gotta ask you
Does anyone agree
For ALL my aggravation
WHY should this be free?

Somebody should bundle all these great poems, and publish them as an expediters poem book or something. There are a bunch of talented people in this group.

This is nice so I will put one up. It is not as cool as some but. I made it to be for ppl in cars. I've posted this on another site also.

Here Goes

You get to a pick up
It's slow slow slow
To get it there
It's go go go
We see all the elements
Earth Fire Wind Rain
Some days it's hot
Some days it's cold
But it never grows old
We see North South East West
But the ice is My biggest pest
We skate to the rest room
We skate to the truck
All the while saying wish me Luck Luck Luck
Your late your late
Then when we get to the gate
We are 2 hours early
not even close to late
Fuel prices go way up
Then a little down
Profit is the way these people have found
Officials have done it too
With split speeds for us and you
Cars can go 70 in a state
We can only go 50 sure to make us late
And it is not a bit safe
This is a truckers life
Filled with both joy and strife
So next time your stuck
Behind a 50 mph going truck
Keep your head not filled with anger
Save us all from some danger

Man DD..if I had to study Haiku to write a poem I'd probably never pick up a pen to do it again! *l* You're right about our kids being smarter than we are though..My son had to teach me computerease..like..how to turn it on? *l*

Still think the best way to write is to just do it..something clicks in your mind..a particular experience..something you want to share..and occasionally it rhymes..it's just something you feel.

so here's to all you guys that just read this stuff..give it a try..some life experience is just waiting on the tip of your pen to share with us..we're waiting..

This form cannot beat the prior examples from life experience and "from the heart." Thanks for the fine examples of your work.

WHEN I'M AN OLD LADY

When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid,
And bring so much happiness...just as they did.
I want to pay back all the joy they've provided,
Returning each deed! Oh, they'll be so excited!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids).

I'll write on the walls with reds, whites and blues,
And I'll bounce on the furniture...wearing no shoes.
I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out.
I'll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they'll shout!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids).

When they're on the phone and just out of reach,
I'll get into things like sugar and bleach.
Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head,
And when that is done, I'll hide under the bed!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids).

When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat,
I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry...I'll run...if I'm able!

I'll sit close to the TV, throught he channels I'll click,
I'll cross both eyes just to see if they stick.
I'll take off my socks and throw one away,
And play in the mud till the end of the day!

And later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh,
I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
And say with a groan,
"She's so sweet when she's sleeping!!"

This really isn't gender orientated -- if you have had kids, you KNOW!

A Day in the life of an expeditor's wife

oh when i woke up this morning
The Ontario Van man was my mate
and somewhere during the day
ol Captain Canuck escaped

Now I've got the caped one
swinging from the drapes
Lord give us a trip
I really need an escape

I hobbled to the kitchen
cuz the cat tripped me on the stairs
that darned little wench
is now puttin on the airs

so the clothes are washed
the beds are made
the house is back in shape
the Captains fed
a favorite dish and
I'm gonna wash some grapes
