Expediters Wanted,SIT allover waiting for loads!

It's real bad when a company lets you sit (could be for days)and wait for a load. And you can see there still adding more trucks, with the same story we were told. When rules are stated and the co. and O/O/driver agree to the rules (contract) why do the O/O/drivers have to keep there side and the co. can change there side whenever is makes them more money or makes there job easy? When freight is good everyone makes money and most loads are covered because we drivers know we can get going again, soon to make up for the "junk" load. But when freight is down we are expected to take "junk" loads and be happy we got something. That's crap! If the co. is making money we drivers should be too. Most of us need around $1000/wk to make it out here and when you go 2,3,4 or 5 wks. with only $300-$700 it's no wonder why we refuse the "junk" loads, we can't live on that money and adding the costs of being on the road to wait for another load "kills" us and it ends up costing us more to move there freight than we make on the load. BUT the co. still makes there profit. The co's need to understand, there we always be freight, but if you don't take care iv your drivers you can't move freight. I understand there idea that if a driver quits there will be 5 or 10 more in line to take there place. OK, that may work for now but sooner or later even that endless line of trucks to sign on will dry up, then what? We are not asking you to loose money, why do you expect us too??

RE: Censored?? Why??

Why should I be censored?? I have not said anything that's UN-true, I have not named any company so what's wrong with telling it like it is? I just hope anyone thinking about getting into this busness spends a LOT of time researching what company to sign on with prior to jumping in. I got into this business after driving for an owner and made OK money. I then got my own truck and for most of my 18mo. plus have been doing OK. The last approx. 6mo. I have found it harder to make "ends" meet. Getting passed over for loads, getting "junk" load after "junk" load, dispatchers not giving all the facts when offering loads, being told on the phone your getting paid for hand loading or some other "extra" service and not getting it because it wasn't sent over the QC. ALL I want is for the company to follow the contracts we signed as we are expected to, I don't think that's asking more than should be expected. Stick up for us O/O/drivers for a change, make the shippers pay for everything there getting. Pay for the proper weight, pay for REAL miles. Get a GOOD GPS program that you can set the fastest route, read the miles and charge for that. Yes, I understand that will cost the shipper more but if the shipper was driving there personal truck would the miles we get make them happy, I think NOT.

RE: Censored?? Why??

you have to understand how these contracts are gotten.. a salesman takes the shipper out to a dinner and they sit there and talk about things like sure we can do 2 hrs before detention kicks in.. yea we can do 24 footers for a min rate the same as vans ect ect for the most part the saleman is page a commision based on his yearly sales.. so he will sell things for barebone rates.. we are the easy place to put those losses.. we are individual for the most part have not contact with each other.. and even if we did try to get together i really doubt you could get o/o to stick together for better pay ect

so untill the day comes that we find it in are better interest to collectivly insist on a fair shake..we wont get it...

No you shouldn't be censored, this is an info sharing site.I know what you are talking about its all the same in this game. You should get your own authority,I have mines. People will tell you it is hard to get but it is not,I did my own paper work,I got some things wrong but they call me an help me correct the mistakes. You can get your own freight, all it takes is a lot of phone work and asking, check with your local school system, check with local printers, machine shops,is a there a race engine builder in your area, what about boat dealers get that phone book out man.Oh well enough for now. Action... you really don't have to say what company you are working for. Any current or ex-Fedex C.C. driver(s) can relate to you and is in the same boat with you regarding the "crow fly" miles, unauthorized layovers, and giving those multi-million dollar companies a $200 "break" on a charge that should be going in your pocket. You just have to say see ya to those companies. The driver pool WILL eventually dry up, even though some companies act like theres always more out there. Good luck and get out before you are forced to file bankruptcy.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

RE:

Sorry..forgot something regarding the 24 "penalty" for going home. When we (my wife and I) were there , the "penalty" was 33 hours. It did not matter if you were going home for a death in the family, needed an inspection, or just wanted to go. Every drive home was UNauthorized, UNpaid, and a 33 hour penalty waiting for us when we were ready to go back out. But just remember... they don't have a problem calling you when they need you, even if you havent fulfilled your 33 dwell time. Any company that would give us a hassle for going home for a death in the family, as the forementioned company did, will not have us as drivers. And we certainly wouldnt be with a company that after refusing two $0.75/mile loads, have to call and beg for forgiveness to be put back in service. Even though if they need you while you are out of service for refusals, they dont hesitate to call. Which, we always felt that we certainly couldnt take a load if we were OOS..that would be against "company policy". I could go on all nite but I'll save the breath (or fingers). The word is out and has been out on them for about two months after "the change" from Roberts.
