Expediters Online Looking for Info from Cube Van Drivers

Expediters Online is considering an article about expediters using cube vans in place of the typical B unit cargo van. We would like to address questions regarding this vehicle type such as: Purchase price, fuel mileage, types of load offers this truck might receive over standard cargo vans, the advantages/disadvantages of running this kind of vehicle, etc. If you'd like to participate in this article, just let us know at [email protected] and we'll send you a questionnaire via e-mail.

Hope to hear from you and thanks for the help!

We ran one a few years back, we'll be glad to share info although I would imagine some things have changed. Our's had a 350" gas engine and the fuel milage left something to be desired.

My husband and I currently operate a cube van and would be willing to answer any questions that you may have, just e-mail them.

A cube will offer companies another way to reduce the cost of moving freight. I have hauled mostly C freight in my D unit this year,of course at the C rate(much of this has been under 3000lbs.) A smaller cube van will offer an opportunity to haul C loads that would not fit in a regular B unit at B rates. I would not want to see that happen because I feel it would hurt C drivers. As it is I am considering a C over a D for my next truck. I have hauled much freight at a C rate, and have been in express centers with multiple D units waiting for freight when a C unit gets there and leaves with a C load, while the Ds are still waiting. As a D unit owner I would like to see the rates limited to B D and E, eliminating A and C rates.

Are you still seeking information on cube vans? I can answer some questions from the employer point of view. We had a O/O contracted with us last year who owned one and we were very sorry to see him and that little truck leave us. Contact me if you can use my information.

Hello stacy how are you? I saw your write up and pics it was very nice. We had a phone conversation on wedsday I have a van and live in cleveland and was looking for some extra frieght. You asked me about dispatching and why I didn't stay with it. Well I should have hindsight is 20/20 it got me thinking that maybe you might oneday have a need for somebody like me in your office. I have been taking classes at tri-c business admin and computers. I stopped last summer to get back into driving dumb move I guess!!!! thats the 20/20 thing again. I am working on A+ certification and a pc/ repair certificate hope to have within a couple of months. In case your interested I have about 14 years in the transportation industry and I am 39 years old. And would love a position on the inside of the industry. Its always interested me. Just haven't gotten the right breaks yet. I am currently leased to an Ohio based expediter and have mentioned to them I would be interested in a inside job. Well I have taking enough of your time for now thanks for reading this.
