Why is it a bad idea to post names or truck numbers here with zero proof, yet it's enthusiastically recommended that you call their carrier with the same exact amount of proof?

Here, we have no way to determine the veracity of such reports. The carrier can at least verify that the unit reported was in the location specified, and, if they can't verify the allegations, they can note them in the driver's file. A driver who is reckless and/or aggressive will garner multiple reports over time, making it easier for the carrier to identify the 'cowboys' in their ranks.

You know when you are on the other end of the phone listening to a complaint, then you can understand where I am coming from.

If the person complaining gave me a phone number and a name where I could call them back, then it was taken seriously, but if I could not contact them, it was put into a file for any future issues.

I called on bad drivers before, this company was the only one who gave me "what do you want us to do about it" line. I told them terminate their contract but crap they were very unprofessional and defensive to begin with so I didn't expect much - I did what I could do.

This seems strange, because I had somewhat of a similar thing happen to me while driving through Columbus, Ohio the other night.A Chevy 3500 cargo van, unmarked, but had that expediter look to it,Was right on my bumper, going through town.As soon as I was able to pass, and while doing so, he is still right there at my back bumper, literally pushing me.I let him go, figuring it wasnt worth it, but had to stop at the J on 71 south of Columbus to clean the windows and wee-wee.Low and behold, as I pull in the front parking lot, there is Mr Dickhead driver washing his windows at the gas pumps. So of course this was not a good thing, as I pulled up next to him and asked him what he was trying to prove driving like an a-hole back there. He was surprised, and I wasnt nice about it, but he didnt say anything back to me, but I let him know the next time I will not be so nice about it, either. So I go inside and do my business and he is there and has the balls to tell me "I have something to say about what you said to me outside-lead,follow, or get out of the way".Needless to say it wasnt good after that...

I should of just left it alone, but "I am incapable of idiots tailgating for any reason. I will move over, when I can,And don't stay in the left lane doing the speed limit, either.I have been trying to slow down to save fuel, and it is working. But the amount of impatience from drivers, semi drivers also, is amazing. While I was in Florida last time,I had a Landstar swmi doing the same thing, I got on the cb and asked him to back off until I moved over, but he came back with some ghetto laguage, and I covienently called Landstar and gave them his truck # and read them the riot act over the phone, needless to say he was on the side of the road with a Florida state trooper behind him..I just wont put up with it anymore...no reason for it at all.Period.

I kinda agree who ever this guy was borders on road rage and maybe should be called in..(or at least go met him in at his terminal)
We all wobble a bit and sometimes may even come close to trading paint, thats part of the job and why we need to stay alert to everything around us but to push traffic and especially in a construction zone just isn't safe.

While on subject of safety I gotta ask,,,Why ya running in the construction zone with tight lanes,up against the barrier wall, oversize load,,,,With your cruise on? :D

A few days ago I'm traveling through a construction zone with an oversized permitted load. I am 11'-11" wide. I am on my specified permit route. Signs in the construction zone direct ALL TRUCKS USE LEFT LANE and SPEED LIMIT 55 MPH. I do exactly as instructed, cruise set at 55 mph traveling in the left lane through this 13-15 mile constrution zone. Although I was as tight to the wall with my load as I could get without hitting it, a car in the right lane is afraid to pass my load. We are both doing the posted speed limit.
See here it is.:D

All right after rereading it Im really getting confused here..
Another Q comes to mind.
Was the car in the right lane wrong for trying to pass on the right?

I've notice a lot of construction zones have trucks travel in the left lane because of the problem of soft shoulders.

I have had excellent results when confronted with unsafe commercial or civilian drivers byycomposing a detailed letter with all pertinent information IE; date, time, license number. I include my history as a commercial driver and include phone and address. I send the letter to the the Commercial vehicle enforcement agency for the state in question with a cc to the driver's company. I have received a written response in every case with indications the matter was not simply filed. I think knowing I took the time to write, gives the matter a sense of importance a phone call lacks.

Sorry, I was talking about MY cruse not being on in construction. I read wrong AGAIN. I am doing that a lot of late. :(

Cheer up - I understood what you meant the first time. Or is that just scary? :D
Cruise control is not to be used in a construction zone!

Cruise control is not to be used in a construction zone!

I know its kinda a rule of thumb idea..and I would agree in a active zone,,but what about the ones the have a good road surface, no opposing traffic running side by side, 2 lanes wide,,no workers in sight for miles?? After 1 mile or so of seeing no work in progress and light traffic I may flip mine back on to save some fuel.

Seems like The Carrier has a bunch of renegade cowboy drivers.

I am happy to report jaminjim, that while on our way to DHL in Erlanger,KY today to pick up our load, we had the pleasure of sharing the road with a B-unit from the same carrier in question. We were both going to DHL and we were behind this driver From I-75 all the way to the shipper's gate.

He drove safely, legally and courtiously. More of what we would expect to see of this carrier's contractors. Kudos to this driver!

I think you can find good or bad drivers at any carrier. No one carrier the corner on bad drivers.

I tend not to agree with anything the orginal poster says, I tend to think he stretchs the truth in most of his posts....bottom line I just don't like him or his wife very much, but let's put that aside for one moment & assume he is 100% accurate in his story telling.

Deville, Deville, Deville,
I am not here to earn your friendship nor do I care if you like me or not. To continually question my honesty on this forum when you've never met me (or my wife) raises questions in my mind.

On what basis or proof do you keep coming to this conclusion, or is it just something you fabricate in your mind to satisfy your needs. To take a dislike to my wife whom never post on this forum makes me wonder if you just have a dislike for law enforcement officers, past and present. Maybe you had a few to many run ins with the law in the past?

Why don't you ask those that know me like Nightcreacher and others as to my and my wife's honesty on this forum and elsewhere. You might learn something. I look forward to meeting you someday so that I can give you a real attitude adjustment, cause you really are in need of one!
