Expediter family stranded at the Pilot in Senora Ky , in a e350 cube truck diesel. Problem, airconditioning compressor locked up ( bearings froze on it). They are on their way home to Detroit. The belt on the hvac pully wont turn. If anyone is nearby or going that way check with. Gina, TB and Gabe their son age 12.

Can't they just cut the belt off ?
That is if the a/c has a separate belt.

That's what I was thinking or they can just short belt it if it is all one belt and roll down the road with the windows down.

Depending on where the AC compressor is mounted, short belting might ar might not work, as you know not much room under the hood of a van.

Hope they find help and get home, but...........

Why would an Expediter in a cube van be out there running with 4 people in that van, of which 2 of them are children???

Was that "Van" signed on with a Major company, or was he an independent?

Sounds like three, a couple and their twelve year old son. Good luck to them.

Mom and Dad and one son, they were n Laredo, it was a working run/vacation only. We were running together till Nashville and 2 of them would ride with me in my van while the other drove the cube truck due to the air was out . They are suppose to get some help today. We both drive for Whirl Wind in Crossville tn. I currently am under a load to Nashville by 10 am est. Yes , the belt is a serpentine belt.

OK, I misread it. Thought it listed 3 names and a "12 year old".

Can't ask a legitimate question???

I mean, we don't talk much about "kids" being toted around in Expediting vehicles, now do we???

Sure, we talk about the wives riding along, or being co-drivers, with their husbands out there. But again, kids are never brought up.

It's not like I was asking if the kid was wearing Pink Shorts or not, of which WOULD be NONE of my business. Wondering what a "Kid" is doing in that cube van is probably a question that came to others mind also.

Seems to me that having Kids along would be a huge liability when it comes to the insurance policies the major companies run under. And, doubt very seriously that "kids" would be allowed, period.

I think it was being implied it is a scam and they are trying to get money.

Didn't think "Scam"........"Legit" was always on my mind. Just wondering what Kids were doing in a Cube/Cargo Expediting van, that's all.

Unless the Van was marked with a Legitimate Expediting companys name, I wouldn't think "Expediter" if I saw them sitting at a truck stop. Traveling "Gypsies" would probably come to mind first.

With the kid in there I wouldn't think expediter either because not only are you dealing with the company policies you also have the pickup and delivery locations to deal with, it just comes to mind they are using the kid in an attempt to get sympathy and boost "profits". I am not saying for sure that is what it is but I always like to keep a bit of skepticism when you hear these sad "stories" at truckstops. It could also just be the kid is on summer vacation and the parents thought it would be fun.

My son takes his son many times a year. Most expeditors may be out of the baby business and dont have a kid to take unless its a grandchild. No a big deal with our company just so the child has health coverage.

Used to go with my dad in his semi many times when I was 12 and older (even younger when he had a straight truck.) Different world today I suppose. Back then, didn't really worry about insurance or if someone was going to sue. Saw many things I could have never seen in a classroom. Good education of how things work in the "real world".
