>>anytime the team feels ready they can turn their savings plan money into a down payment on a lease purchase option to purchase a new truck regardless of their credit history.<<

Just a comment on this...If it is "their" money to start with...why do you act if though it's a privelege to be able to use it as they see fit? If it's "their" money, they should be able to spend it on beer and hookers if they want. Not that I'm suggesting that, but it is their money...if their not responsible enough to handle it, they won't make it long as o/o's anyway.

Sorry, but I don't buy the "I'm doing you a favor by keeping your money for you" bit.

Angela, you seem very nice and you are obviously convinced that you have a good deal to offer new drivers, but I have the right to disagree with you and I do.

Does the driver have the option to decline from setting up a savings account and receive the 2% in their weekly settlement?

Does the driver or team have the ability to withdraw the 2% saving money anytime they want to?

What is the safety found escrow account for? Is this paid by ES, or from the drivers 50% settlement, and does the driver ever see any of this money?

What out of pocket money does the driver have to pay back to ES monthly? Ex: phone, QQ, insurance, workman’s comp.
I forgot, an IC doesn’t have to pay workman’s comp. Unless he is an employee.

The 2% is in addition to the 50% weekly pay. Each time an experienced driver is brought on the manager will consider other options that may work for that experienced driver. So it is very possible that the 2% could be negotiated and paid out to you.

The Safety Fund is set up to cover all parties in the event of an accident/damage that results from driver error to the truck. The Safety Fund will grow to $1600 per truck, and any overages after that pay out monthly. The $1600 is the deductable. If a team decides to quit or is termed all their monies will be paid out to them within 30 days or all their outstanding loads are paid off. (We pay the driver before we get paid)

The only other expenses (other than fuel) the teams have deducted from their settlements are the work accident insurance, which for a team averages about $25 per week and this is 100% coverage while in the truck. We cover the trip pak charges, satelitte fees, general insurance, fuel taxes & maintenance costs.

I agree with you totally. It is their money. I worded it as such because a large number of our teams have an interest in investing in their own truck but have financial issues or personal issues and they like the fact that the money in savings (that they do not realize is growing weekly) can be used toward that.

We actually have many teams that use savings withdrawls to buy laptops, pay their yearly taxes or even send lump sums home for personal things.

You are entitled to your opinion and I dont begrudge you that, I only feel obligated to allow those that may turn to this forum as a means for information the actual information about us. As I have said it isnt for everyone. If you or anyone wants to get the drivers perspective you can keep an eye out for our fleet and ask our teams. All of our fleet consist of 2000 & newer FL70 & FL80 straight trucks. All are double bunk white trucks. We do have custom mud flaps with Expedite Solutions on them. We lease these trucks on with a few carriers so the truck logos may be with different companies. If you can catch them sitting still...they usually like to run hard. :)

This is confusing to me, could you please explain?

Workman’s comp, insurance is a state regulated insurance paid by an employer for all his/her employees. If an employee gets hurt he is covered. Some private insurance companies also handle this type of a policy, but is usually a higher cost than if purchased through the state. It is based and paid according to the employer’s payroll amount annually. I person that is an IC and has no employees has to carry what is called a commercial liability insurance based on the total liability amount that person wants, or is required to carry by the person he/she is providing a service to. More times than not this is confused by many as workman’s comp insurance. Hope this helps you understand more about what I meant?

Added this: I think this is a state law, and all states are not all alike. Some my require an IC to carry the same thing but may call it a workman’s comp insurance. I will get more information from my agent and pass it on.

Thanks! You are the best. I was trying to think of the best way to explain this and you hit it on the head. I appreciate it.

Howdy

I don't know about anyone else and I won't even comment on whether or not I think Expedite Solutions is a good deal. But, I do think Angela here deserves some credit for taking the time to answer everyones questions in a very professional and honest manner. She has put the cards on the table and the best part is I don't see her making any excuses. It's pretty simple...here is our program.....I'll answer all your questions and give you as much information as I can and then you decide. I haven't talked to any of their drivers so I suppose she could be blowing smoke but when you put your name address and telephone number plus a website on the line I beleive that means something in judging what you might expect if you ever did enter into a relationship with them. There are hundreds of other people out there who own trucks and lease them out to people and certainly aren't as straight forward about what they offer. Still less would ever be willing to come onto this forum and layout for everyone what their program is and challenge anyone to prove them wrong. Personally, if their deal isn't much different then what your getting elsewhere I would give them a shot. I can tell you from personal experience that getting offered 60% and what you end up with in your paycheck after all the other little deductions here and there is quite a lot closer to 54% at the grocery store. People who are in business to make money should be respected because there are many in this business who I think enjoy screwing people over as much as making the money! There are no shortages when it comes to psycho owners out there who think that because they own the truck and you don't it gives them the right to treat you like a second class citizen and nickle and dime you to death. This operation makes no excuses that it's a business and if it fits what your looking for fine.....if not I don't think it's fair for people to pigeon hole them with all the other scumbag operations out there unless you have actually worked for them and have persoanlly experienced all the bad you speak about. The End!

On the issue of Workmans Comp or Workmans Insurance, some States do not rquire a IC to have it.My home state says you must carry Workmans Comp if you have 4 or more employees. WE are a S Corporation and my wife and I are the employees, our expensive health insurance plan covers us for medical costs in the event of an accident or job related injury, so by having to carry Workmans Comp,I would be carrying duplicate coverage, and probably neither one would want to pay knowing that there is other coverage.

w8tamin,
I agree with you! I believe Angela has performed beautifully by addressing all questions and issues point blank. She did not beat around the bush and told it like it is. The information is there for all to consider. She was curteous, polite, while some tried to give her a hard time, was also expeditious. Her loyalty to her company is commendable. Wouldn't it be nice if we all had employees like her.:) ;) :p

I apologize if I seemed to be giving Angela and Expedite Solutions a hard time, but it looks to me that they were using this forum as a form of advertisement to attract new drivers, which is not its intention and we at EO did not have to allow it.
I felt it might be a good thing though to help show and tell newbies what sort of alternatives exist at ground level. Whatever you do at ground zero, don't jump into ANYTHING and do a little research beforehand. I just hope the postings from Angela, myself, and the others addressed the different angles. If myself and others would have kept it shut and made no reply, many of the thousands of potential drivers out there who read EO could have read Angela's post and thought Expedite Solutions was the greatest thing since sliced bread. They might be for some, but certainly not for all.

I have to agree that Angela has taken some tough shots from myself and others. She has taken it quite well and represented her company well.

What do I think of Angela? She's probably worth more than she's paid. :)

What do I think of Expedite Solutions? They sound like they have a decent program as for the training and experience, but from what I've seen in other posts, you can make better money elsewhere. I am a newbie, so I don't know this to be true. I would agree with the person who said that the 60% offered by many of the owners might well be 54% by the time they get through with you. Again, I am a newbie and don't know this to be true. But, are you sure that the 50% offered by ES will be 50% when their through with it?

Good Point Arky

"But, are you sure that the 50% offered by ES will be 50% when their through with it?"

Although I think Angela addressed most of this concern in one post.

My point is, I haven't seen many, if any, of these other owners (some of whom are way larger companies than this one) who are willing to put up a website offer a telephone number and a manager willing to come on a public forum and openly discuss their program especially w/o getting defensive. I believe it was a member of the EO Forum who was the first to make us all aware of this company in the first place.

I suppose the whole thing could have been a setup.......

Unfortunately, I always tend to take people at their word and I've got it tucked to me more than once because of it. On the other hand I think it's unfair to paint everyone with the same broad brush until they actually prove they deserve it.

I didn't feel you were giving Angela a hard time. What I saw, was good questions that needed answers. We need those hard questions asked, because as "newbies" we don't "know" what questions to ask.
I started this thread because I was looking for training and knew that others had to be doing the same thing at some point. I wasn't sure what to ask. Thank you to EVERYONE that's participated in this discussion.
As far as Expedite Solutions, they may be the answer to some people, for our situation, they aren't.

Thank you for defending me...at times I did feel a little cornered by the "dawgs" (lol) but all the questions are such good ones. I HONESTLY did not mean to become the Expedite SOlutions poster girl. LOL :) While at the MATS many people told me to check out this forum because I could both learn and maybe educate. As I read back it does appear to be a "sales pitch" and that wasnt my intention..heck Im not even a recruiter!! I just love my drivers and the industry and dont ever want to do anything else. Feel free to ask anything and I will be as honest as possible. I have learn alot from everyone (especially Weave) but I have respect for you all.

You ROCK Weave!! Dont change. I liked you immediately because you didnt hold back. No hard feelings. I wish some of my drivers had talked to people like yourself before signing up to Expedite. I didnt mean to "sell" ES, I guess my female emotions got the best of me. I look at this job kinda like my kids. :) So I wanted to defend it as honestly & accurate as I can. Keep it coming darlin...Im tough. ;)

I am worth WAY more than I am paid....but in this industry you have to do the payroll deduction for ovaries & breast, so Im about average!! lol (hope I didnt offend anyone)

The only deductions that come out of the 54% are the work accident, cell phone (if you have a company phone), & fuel.

I hadnt even realized I may have come across like I was selling it, honestly I felt like I was defending it. :)

As for EO setting anything up, that isnt the case. I havent even gotten the chance to meet Lawrence. I heard he was a great guy, but I personally took it upon myself to check this out, with no intentions of selling EX. I was actually surprised when I saw that our name was coming up! You know you are doing something right if people aret alking about you! lol I actually herad about the forum from people at the MATS and a couple of my teams like the loading dock.

Im not a recruiter or anything, I actually work with my teams daily and handle the daily operations & payroll. My recruiter might just kick my bottom if he knew I have become the ES poster gal on EO!

I have learned a great deal from all of you and will definately take some of the concerns and points brought up to the owners because many are valid.
