Heading to the Expo Early Saturday I think that's the 27th, from West Michigan. Anyone want to go and share gas? Shoot me a PM.

Hopefully.....will be going on the 26th, but everytime I register for the expo...I get sent the opposite way. (not a bad thing as long as I am staying busy). We'll see. Maybe this year....

If you are anywhere close the Expo is well worth the time to attend. There is almost enough truck parking if all of the EO members attended so that is not a worry. The event is air conditioned so no need to worry about the heat or rain as we used to in Detroit. The Pilot is within walking distance for those that need a shower but do not have a room. You can attend the workshops, check out new equipment, meet other expediters to compare notes with on how to make your next year more profitable, and also make lots of new friends. Really a great event for the new and the experienced expediter. This is how we got started years ago in Detroit perfect opportunity to talk to recruiters and also talk to drivers for that company.

To us it was worth the plane ticket, the hotel and the rental car to attend our first event. We felt as if the opportunity to meet the drivers for the companies we were interested in paid for itself immediately. When we started with FedEx Custom Critical we were very prepared for our new adventure and new way of life.

If you are going I would suggest a notebook with questions you want to ask each company and drivers. We kept a section of notes for each company with a core set of question each company was asked and also each driver we ran into was asked. I would also suggest attending the workshops and keeping notes. We really were thrilled at how many drivers love to talk about their company and how they felt about their way of life.

Another reason to attend the Expo is to get a feel for the mood and outlook of our industry in these uncertain economic times.

With things like credit crisis, mortgage crisis, dollar crisis, oil crisis on peoples' minds (maybe we are having a crisis crisis), I am very interested to hear from carriers, fleet owners, vendors, owner-operators and drivers what they think and plan. It will cost some money to get to the show, but I know of no better place to get primary-source information about our business.

With trucking companies going out of business at tripple their normal rate, there are still people making money in expediting . I'm coming to the show to find out who they are and how they are doing it.
