Estimating maintenance costs for lease vs. buy analysis

I have recently assumed a role where I have to manage a small fleet of trucks. This is totally new to me, and I'm trying to figure out our maintenance costs so that I can make a good decision about whether a full service lease offer actually makes sense. Unfortunately, the data my new company has kept on truck expenses is questionable.

Can anybody direct me to a source of maintenance and tire cpm for a tandem axle freightliner flatbed (48,000 lb gvw) and a Kenworth daycab semi. We average only about 30,000 miles/year. General info would be fine, but I need to see some representation of new maintenance costs versus trucks at various stages of useful life.

Check out the American Trucking Association Technology and Maintenance Council.

It will cost you some money to join but it may be well worth the price your employer pays. Lots of good information there. You can also learn how fleet managers think about the issues you now face in your new work.
