Just contacted Tom at ThermoKing.

He is offering a Espar D2 for $895 shipped out of Ohio.
Thermo King Sales & Service, Inc. Richfield, OH (800) 486-9670

Thought I'd pass this info along. About to order one today.
He said if you buy 10 he can sell for $870 each shipped.

I've called around this seems to be the best deal going for those that don't live in Ohio. If you live in OH you're pretty much screwed either way lol... :) no offense.

quote conversation with another member.....

I was going to get it at Espar of Michigan for a horrible price of $3800 + Tax. (AUX battery/isolator included).
Famous Ray still can't tell me when he can get me in. Also didn't call me back on two days that he said he would.

There is this little thing called customer service. But, I'm glad he has been dragging his feet.
Quoted at Thermo King $2350 everything included AND a National warranty!!

Ray has to learn he is not the only game in town anymore......

Espar is an integrated part of Thermo Kings TriPak installs for tractors...they probably get a better price because of sheer volume from Espar.....the supply and demand rears its head again...

Yeah the action is over in Ohio and Indiana, not everyone has a note to pay in Novi Mi. :) Prolly get the best deal in El Paso Tx. Average income price seems to drive prices up. If you know your clientele makes more $ you're going to increase prices, its human nature! You got the poorest and richest all right there in Detroit and the suburbs!

I talked with them about a gas fired Espar last spring when they did my new QC install. That particular TK didn't do gas Espars. I don't know if other TK service centers do gas installs or not.

I have to give kudos to Ray at Espar of Michign. He came through when TK could not. Last winter at the end of Jan. with just finishing up the last run on my way down to Fla. for a 3 week R&R, my Espar began to not work. No problem figuring I could take it to Tk to get it fix while on vacation. Went to TK in Haines City. Fl there they told me it was my blower motor that needed to be replaced. Was told they didn't stock that part since they mostly worked on D2 Espars and mine was a D4.. They called Espar to order part and was told not in stock and on back order. So call was made to Ray at Espar of Mi. and had one in stock. He sent it 2 day air and was installed 3 days later. When I got off phone with Ray the tech asked me how much part was, I told him price was $275 plus shipping. Tech responded "that's a good price, I was going to charge you $375 for the part plus install". Ended up paying $500 for part, shipping and install. Thanks to Ray for helping me out when TK failed me.

In January 2013 they were asking me for about $2500. No auxiliary battery included.

I think it was Turtle that once said....if you have no plans of using the Aux battery for anything then firing the Espar you don;t really need the big expensive one...the small marine one would do at 1/2 the price.....

I just picked up a buddy heater. For $59 thought I would give it a try with the 1 lb propane tanks...also got a carbon monoxide detector. Until I get rolling maybe this will get me through the winter with a little less up front expense.

I started out with that one, then quickly upgraded to the Big Buddy. 1 lb tank at a time, was always running out at the wrong times

Yeah, Espar, maybe a small inverter to charge a computer, then a 100 amp hour marine battery (or truck battery), about $100, is plenty. The Espar heater only draws about an amp an hour, on average. The better insulated you are the less hard it has to work, of course.

A Presto Heat dish really cranks some heat, I have one I use at home. I think people on here have used the harbor freight version.

And for the economic expeditor, here is a good deal on a zero degree bag free shipping. You can get it in Long, Wide or Regular sizes.

Use discount code RMN10 for 10% off. Takes it down to about $58 and some change. Cheers
